Despite his good performance in the Copa América, Tite has faced a barrage of criticism after the unexpected defeat to Fortaleza. The negative result fell directly on the coach, who was considered primarily responsible for the delay in making substitutions during the game. The defeat, seen as a significant stumble, undermined part of the prestige that the coach gained with the red and black fans throughout the continental tournament.

In the press conference after the match, Tite tried to divert the focus from tactical criticism and directed his complaints to the refereeing and the attitude of the Flamengo fans. The press conference, which lasted longer than usual, showed a coach visibly frustrated with the boos directed at some players. Tite vehemently defended his athletes, especially Allan, Luiz Araújo and Ayrton Lucas, who were the main targets of fans' criticism.

During the press conference, Tite also questioned the referee, pointing out an alleged foul in Fortaleza's first goal. However, he made no mention of the controversial penalty awarded in favor of Flamengo, which sparked heated discussions among commentators and fans. The attempt to justify the defeat due to the referee's performance was seen by many as a maneuver to divert attention from his own tactical decisions.

Amid the criticism, Tite praised the performance of young Matheus Gonçalves, highlighting his performance as one of the positive points of the match. For the coach, Matheus demonstrated maturity and technical quality, even in a complicated game. The player's appreciation was an attempt to show that, despite the setback, there are emerging talents in the squad that can make a difference in the next matches.

In the end, Tite took stock of Flamengo's trajectory in the Copa América, highlighting the positive moments and asking the fans for patience. "The fans don't boo the athlete, he won't improve with booing. I'm going to stay here for a while, I don't know how long I'll stay, I'm Flamengo's coach. They'll change them soon. So don't boo. They're not neglecting their work", he stated. The coach emphasized that booing only harms the players' performance and asked for more support from the fans, citing games in which unconditional support was crucial for the team.
