The Rio de Janeiro Court granted this Monday (08) an injunction authorizing the classic between Vasco and Flamengo , scheduled for April 19, in São Januário, in a duel valid for the 2025 Brazilian Championship .
The measure, issued by Judge Regina Lúcia Chuqer de Almeida Costa de Castro Lima, of the 6th Public Treasury Court, responds to a class action lawsuit filed by Pedro de Menezes Reis and Marcus Vinicius Reis. The decision suspends the effects of the veto previously imposed by the Specialized Stadium Policing Battalion (Bepe).
The easy way out is 'stop doing it..."
In her decision, the judge points out that BEPE “refuses to use all its energy to benefit the service, simply opting for the easy way out of ‘not doing anything ’, with an apparent abandonment of the enthusiasm, authority and efficiency that the institution demands”. She argues that technical limitations cannot prevent the use of a stadium considered a historical, cultural and tourist heritage site of the city.
With the injunction, the Vasco club once again has the right to decide where the match will take place, and may maintain its home ground at São Januário. The presence of Vasco fans is guaranteed, while the presence of the visiting team will depend on a well-founded technical assessment . The decision also reinforces the understanding that the previous veto violated principles linked to Rio's sporting tradition.
Lawyer Marcus Vinicius Reis said in an interview with ge that the action seeks to preserve fundamental values of the sport. “ Vasco is a heritage of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. It’s not just about a game, but about respect for the history, the fans and the freedom to exercise their passion in the place that is their home,” he said. According to him, Rio de Janeiro football needs decisions that value its history and identity.

Oruam turned himself in to the police last Tuesday (22) after having an arrest warrant issued by the Court. Thus, this Wednesday (23), the rapper's fiancée, Fernanda Valença, spoke on her Instagram about the reaction of her father-in-law, Marcinho VP. The influencer highlighted that the singer's father "is not happy" with the indictment.
Oruam's bride talks about Marcinho VP's opinion: "Contrary to what many people think, my father-in-law is not happy about any of this news."
