Marcos Braz, Flamengo's vice-president of football, confirmed that he will step down at the end of the 2024 season. In a blunt statement, Braz stated:“The day I return, I will be world champion”, indicating that his career at the club, for now, will come to an end, but with the desire to return to win more highly relevant titles. During his years at the helm of red and black football, Marcos Braz was a key player in historic achievements and important signings that placed Flamengo at the top of national and international football.
Among the main titles won under his management, the 2019 Copa Libertadores stands out, which broke a 38-year fast without the main continental title. Flamengo beat River Plate in dramatic fashion, with a comeback in the final minutes, going down in history as one of the club's most exciting moments. In the same year, the team also won the Brazilian Championship, confirming the supremacy of the squad assembled by Braz. Another great achievement occurred in 2022, when the Flamengo lifted the Libertadores cup again, this time defeating Athletico-PR, consolidating its golden era.
BRAZ AND ALL HIS HISTORY BY FLAMENGO
In addition to the titles, Marcos Braz played a crucial role in signings that marked Brazilian football. Players like Gabigol and Arrascaeta, signed in 2019, are examples of athletes who reached the club under the supervision of Braz and became pillars of Flamengo's achievements. Gabigol, in fact, was the scorer of the goals that guaranteed the historic victory over River Plate in the Libertadores final. Another prominent name was full-back Filipe Luís, who arrived to reinforce the team with international experience and leadership on the field.
Same amid criticism and natural pressure of the position, Braz maintained a leadership and resilience stance, contributing to maintaining the Flamengo as one of the main clubs in Brazil. Under his management, the club also won other important cups, such as the Supercopa do Brasil and the Campeonato Carioca in multiple editions. The strategy of signing experienced players and promising young players was one of the milestones of his tenure, balancing the formation of a competitive and financially sustainable squad.
A DEPARTURE AT THE END OF THE SEASON
With the announcement of his departure, Marcos Braz leaves a significant legacy at Flamengo, being responsible for one of the most successful phases in the club's history. His work leading red and black football not only brought trophies, but also raised the club's level on the world stage, attracting the attention of fans and rivals. At the end of his stay, Braz is keen to make it clear that, if one day he returns to Flamengo, it will be with the aim of leading the club to the most coveted title of all: the Club World Cup.
For now , Flamengo still has challenges ahead until the end of 2024, and the expectation is that Marcos Braz will contribute as much as possible until the last day of his management. The club, which is already preparing for changes in the board , will certainly face a new cycle with different challenges, but with the certainty that the Marcos Braz era will be marked as one of the most successful in red and black history. The fan now says goodbye to a figure who, without a doubt, played a role

Fortaleza announced this Friday (1st) the amicable termination of the contract with defender David Luiz , who will now continue his career at Pafos FC , a team in the first division of Cyprus. The defender had signed with the Ceará club at the beginning of 2024, after ending his stint at Flamengo.
His departure comes after just 16 appearances for the Tricolor, 13 of which he started . His last appearance was on June 12th, in a 3-2 loss to Santos in the 12th round of the Brazilian Championship. On that occasion, David Luiz played the full 90 minutes.
His brief time at Fortaleza was marked by recurring physical problems , which, while not serious, prevented him from playing regularly. Even so, the 38-year-old opted to waive the remaining balance of his contract, which ran until the end of 2026, to accept the Cypriot football club's offer. His contract with Pafos FC will last three seasons.
With his move to Cyprus, David Luiz now has eight clubs in his career: Vitória, Benfica, Chelsea, PSG, Arsenal, Flamengo, Fortaleza and, now, Pafos. For Flamengo , the club he defended between 2021 and 2024, the defender played 132 matches , scored four goals and provided two assists. He won the Libertadores (2022), the Copa do Brasil (2022 and 2024) and the Campeonato Carioca (2024).

The duel will be this Sunday (3) at 6:30 pm (Brasília time) at Arena Castelão. Mengão needs the victory to remain at the top of the competition without having to worry about its pursuers.
