Flamengo has been officially notified that Matheus Cunha has signed a pre-contract with Cruzeiro. The goalkeeper, who is under contract with the club until December of this year, has agreed to play for the Minas Gerais club starting in January 2026 .

Given the situation, Flamengo has already begun searching for a new goalkeeper in the market . If they are able to sign him during this window, the club will evaluate the possibility of releasing Matheus Cunha early.

MATHEUS CUNHA'S SITUATION AT FLAMENGO

Agustín Rossi's immediate reserve, Matheus Cunha played five matches in 2025 under Filipe Luís . Last Friday (18), he started in the friendly between the red-black under-20s and Bayer Leverkusen, held in Gávea.

The goalkeeper emerged as a promising prospect in São Paulo's youth academy and joined Flamengo 's under-20 team, with the approval of then-coach Rogério Ceni. During Jorge Sampaoli's tenure, he briefly became a starter in the senior team. In August 2023, the Rio de Janeiro club rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest of England, which was reported to be between €8 and €10 million (approximately R$42.8 to R$53.6 million at the time).

OPTIONS IN THE POSITION

With Matheus Cunha's imminent departure, Flamengo currently has other players from the youth academy . Dyogo Alves, 21, has been the squad's third-choice goalkeeper. Meanwhile, young Léo Nannetti, just 17, has been occasionally called up and participated in the recent friendly against Leverkusen.

Flamengo has received a high-value offer from Superbet to fill the master sponsorship slot currently held by Pixbet. The information was released by Poder360. Under the current contract, Pixbet holds the right to match any offer before the club signs a new agreement , thus ensuring the possibility of maintaining the exclusive jersey design.

This clause is included in the contract signed between the parties, which prevents a direct sponsor change without the current partner having the opportunity to match the amounts. It's now up to Pixbet to decide whether to continue with the main sponsorship or make way for Superbet.

PIXBET HAS THE LARGEST CONTRACT IN BRAZIL

Pixbet currently holds the most valuable master sponsorship contract in Brazilian soccer, with staggered annual payments: R$105 million in the first year, R$115 million in the second, and R$125 million in the third . The club also receives bonuses related to FlaBet, which is featured on another part of the kit, reinforcing the importance of partnerships with the betting industry for annual revenue.

CLUB ANALYZES SUPERBET OFFER

The board carefully evaluates all aspects of the proposal, weighing the financial and strategic impact of the change. Ensuring economic stability is seen as essential to maintaining competitiveness in national and international tournaments.

While discussing the issue off the pitch, Flamengo is preparing to face Internacional this Wednesday (13), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã , for the first leg of the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores. The result will be crucial for the club's ambitions in the competition.
