The 21st round of the Brazilian Championship starts this Saturday (26). The first game will be for Flamengo, who will face Internacional at 6:30 pm in Maracanã. Looking for a victory, Mengão can benefit from other results throughout the weekend both to reduce its distance from the competition leader, Botafogo, and to secure its position in the top 6 of the table.
If Flamengo wins against Colorado, it will accumulate 38 points, which will give it the vice-leadership. The club can maintain that position as long as Palmeiras loses its game against Vasco, which will take place the next day, on Sunday (27th) at 6:30 pm.
Actually, depending on the amount of goals scored by both Flamengo and Palmeiras in their respective games, the carioca can stay ahead with a draw from São Paulo. That's because Vasco's rival has 37 points, just two ahead of Mais Querido.
In addition to Flamengo needing a defeat by Palmeiras, a defeat by Botafogo would be great. That's because the lone star leads the Championship with 48 points, 11 more than second place. The carioca's game this weekend will be against Bahia on Sunday (27) at 4 pm.
There are four other clubs that are less than three points away from Flamengo. Thus, it would be interesting for the red-black, as a form of 'defense' on the leaderboard that they lose in their matches. These are: Fluminense (34 points); Grêmio (33 points); Athletico-PR (32 points) and Red Bull Bragantino (32 points).
All games will also be on Sunday (27). Grêmio will play against Cruzeiro at 7 pm, in Porto Alegre. Bragantino, on the other hand, faces Cuiabá in the morning, at 11am. And Athletico-PR and Fluminense meet in Curitiba at 6:30 pm. In this match, the most interesting thing for Mengão, in this case, would be a draw.
