Flamengo confirmed, on Tuesday morning (10), the payment of Gerson's termination fee by Zenit. The amount of 25 million euros ( approximately R$ 160 million, at the current exchange rate ) was paid in cash and deposited directly into the Rio de Janeiro club's account, a few hours after the player arrived in Rio de Janeiro, coming from the Club World Cup.
Negotiations between Flamengo and the Russian team had already been in place for about a month. However, the approach of Al Nassr, from Saudi Arabia , last week forced Zenit to act quickly to secure the deal. The Arab club tried to use the influence of coach Jorge Jesus to attract the midfielder, but negotiations with the Russians were already at an advanced stage.
According to information from the ge.globo portal, Zenit's board of directors has formally agreed to pay Flamengo the full fine. Gerson is now preparing to board a chartered flight to Russia, where he will be officially presented and sign a five-year contract with the St. Petersburg club.
Gerson had two notable spells at the Gávea club — the first between 2019 and 2021, and the second between 2023 and 2025. During that period, he established himself as a key player in the midfield and helped the team win 12 titles.

The Frenchman scored a hat-trick, reaching five goals in the competition and taking over the Champions League's top scorer.
Besides the Frenchman, Camavinga and Brahim also found the net, completing the Spanish team's thrashing. With the victory, Real Madrid now has six points from two rounds , provisionally taking the lead in the group, while Kairat remains pointless and sits last.
Vini Jr. started the match as Real Madrid's Champions League captain, but had a lackluster performance and missed a clear chance in the first half. The Brazilian gave way to Rodrygo midway through the second half , while Mbappé led the attack.
