Ricardo Pieri Nunes will be responsible for defending striker Bruno Henrique , who was indicted by the Federal Police for involvement in a sports betting scheme. The criminal lawyer was previously hired to defend Flamengo in the Ninho do Urubu tragedy and also defended the athlete in another case.
The number 27 was indicted for having informed his brother that he would receive a card in the match against Santos, for the 2023 Brazilian Championship, in which the player was sent off . Bruno Henrique and his brother have been the target of the operation since November last year.
Last year, Bruno Henrique and his family had their cell phones seized after a joint operation between the Federal Police and the Public Prosecutor's Office. At the time, Pieri filed a request to close the investigation. He requested the return of the assets and classified the operation as unfounded. He also highlighted that the case was investigated and closed by the STJD, as he found no evidence of manipulation of the athlete.
"The court understood that the incident in question, in which Bruno Henrique was given a yellow card, was not even considered a foul," said the defense.
At that time, the court pointed out the implausibility of the accusation, since the player had received the card in the 52nd minute of the second half, running the risk of being substituted during the match.
PROTOCOL REQUEST
The lawyer also reported that a request was filed to analyze the information provided by three betting houses to the IBIA (International Betting Integrity Association). According to him, neither the Public Prosecutor's Office nor the Federal Police verified whether the data used as the basis for the complaint were produced with adequate technical-scientific criteria.
We also filed a request for analysis of the information provided by the three betting houses mentioned in the process to IBIA.
"We also filed a request for analysis of the information provided by the three betting houses mentioned in the case to the IBIA (International Betting Integrity Association). Neither the Federal Police nor the Public Prosecutor's Office sought to assess whether the technical-scientific method for producing and extracting the data that underpins the complaint was duly observed."
"It can be seen from the records that the police team failed to provide valid records on the production and extraction of data and did not guarantee the reliability of the information presented. We hope that this investigation can also be archived quickly so that the athlete can continue to exercise his profession with integrity and without further damage to his image , which has already been unfairly and irreparably affected by an unfounded operation," stated Ricardo Pieri's defense.

Spanish newspaper Marca highlighted the athlete's rapid adaptation. " The former Atlético de Madrid player arrived at Flamengo with the mission of becoming an important player and maintaining a prominent role in the starting lineup . His adaptation didn't take long," the publication reported.

The Rio de Janeiro Court ruled on Tuesday (16) that the organized fan group Jovem Fla is banned from attending stadiums for a period of two years. The decision was made by Judge Renato Guarino Martins, responding to an injunction requested by the Public Ministry of the State of Rio de Janeiro (MP-RJ) after new episodes of violence were recorded in early September.
The Specialized Stadium Policing Battalion (BEPE) released a report describing several incidents involving members of Jovem Fla . Among the incidents were reports of fans jumping train turnstiles , damaging a train station, and walking on the tracks, delaying the train's journey.
The Military Police also reported that members of the organized group were caught surfing on buses in the Cidade de Deus and Niterói regions. Fights were also reported on Avenida Brasil, near São Cristóvão, heading towards Maracanã Stadium.
According to the lawsuit, one of the members urinated on a police armored vehicle and posted on social media that he "wanted to cause trouble." A merchant also reported the theft of two cases of beer and two cases of soda from the stadium's North Sector.
BEPE also reported the assault suffered by Vasco fans in a bar on Rua Alfredo Valadão , in Copacabana. The court also sent a letter to the Public Prosecutor's Office with information about new episodes of violence involving other organized fan groups, such as Fúria, Força Jovem do Vasco and Jovem do Botafogo .
