Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Castro's Al-Nassr was eliminated in the Asian Champions League. After losing the first game 1-0 to Al-Ain (UAE), the team won 4-3 and took the game to extra time, however, fell on penalties. Winner of the match, Al-Ain moves on and will face the winner of Al-Hilal (ARA) and Al-Ittihad (ARA), who will face each other this Tuesday (12).

This way, the Portuguese star's team is left out of 2025 Club World Cup, unlike Flamengo, which is already one of the teams confirmed for the competition. The Asian Champions League was one of the ways for the Saudi club to qualify for the competition promoted by FIFA.

If they cannot face Cristiano Ronaldo, Flamengo still has the chance to meet Lionel Messi in the competition. Inter Miami, from the United States, is in the quarterfinals of the Concachampions, a championship that could place the Argentine in the upcoming Super World Cup.

This last Saturday (17), Al-Hilal led by Jorge Jesus beat Al-Nassr 4-0, in the final of the Saudi Arabian Super Cup. Thus, after the defeat, Luís Castro was fired from the Saudi team's technical command.

According to information from the local newspaper Al-Yaum, the Portuguese was fired after the 4-1 defeat to Al-Hilal. The pressure on Castro had been growing, especially due to yet another setback against the team led by Jorge Jesus.

PARISH FOR JORGE JESUS

This Saturday's game (17) between Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr only served to confirm Luís Castro's parish to Jorge Jesus. This is because the confrontation was the third between the teams since 2023 and all the victories were for the blue and white team.

Remembering that Luís Castro arrived at Al-Nassr in July 2023, in the midst of a transfer controversial, as he still had ties to Botafogo, where he led the Brasileirão. In total, there were 50 games in charge of the Saudi team, with 35 wins, six draws and nine defeats.

JORGE JESUS ACHIEVES FLAMENGO RECORD

After winning the Super Cup, Jorge Jesus achieved his incredible record of 4 titles and just three defeats. Remembering that the Portuguese coach had achieved the feat with Flamengo in 2019/20.
