Flamengo's creator and absolute idol, Vinicius Júnior suffered racist acts from Valencia (ESP) fans, in the 1-0 defeat of Real Madrid (ESP), in the afternoon last Sunday (21). In addition to Rubro-Negro, other Brazilian clubs took a stand against the situation and showed solidarity with the former Mais Querido player.

Among the clubs in Rio de Janeiro, Botafogo, Vasco and Fluminense used social media to demonstrate against racist acts and support Vinicius Júnior. In the posts, the teams highlight that it is necessary to put an end to situations like this in football and that, furthermore, omission is not an option.

“With anguish and revolt, we were impacted by yet another news of a racist attack on the athlete Vinícius Junior, in Spain, on the field... If omission is not an option, much less questioning victims of this terrible and inhumane evil that continues to torment us. To the athlete, we wish all the strength and wisdom in the world to move forward in the fight against injustice. We will remain firm from here, Vini”, declared Botafogo, in a post on Twitter.

Vasco also took a position: “We would not like to be here again to talk about the subject, especially because we know very well how racism hurts, revolts and hurts, but we couldn't let go of your hand, Vinícius Júnior... Racism can NEVER be normalized or accepted, in Spain, in Brazil, in ANY place in the world. We need to put an end to attitudes like this once and for all! May those responsible be punished and you, Vini, can continue doing what you know and love best: enchanting the world with the ball at your feet”, he wrote.

O Fluminense, the team that Flamengo faces in the round of 16 of the Copa do Brasil, wrote: “Fluminense expresses its solidarity with Vinícius Júnior, who once again was the victim of racist and degrading acts. Concrete actions against the countless cases of racial insults are urgent. It's time for some action to be taken against those who attack him day after day in different stadiums. Racism is a crime. All our support, Vini!”, published Tricolor.

It is important to highlight that this is not the first time that the player has been a victim of racism in La Liga. As a result, the athlete is considering leaving Real Madrid. Romário was announced by Flamengo as the club's new reinforcement on January 14, 1995. At the time, the striker had been voted the best player in the world, where he was champion with the Brazilian team and winner of the Ballon d'Or, deciding to leave Barcelona to return to Brazil and defend the Sacred Mantle. This Tuesday (14), the moment turned 30 years old, and the former number 11 gave an interview, getting emotional remembering it.

"Today is a special day in my life, 30 years since I returned to Brazilian football, to Flamengo. Cleber, Michel, Plínio, thank you for bringing me here. (voice chokes). I spent a hell of a lot of time here, I'm even... (starts crying)", he said on the Charla Podcast.

At the time, Flamengospent 4.5 million dollars plus taxes (25%) to make the hiring. This value corresponds to R$25 million, an unrealistic amount for signing athletes in current football, especially when it comes to the current best in the world. In comparison, the fine to remove Vinícius Júnior from Real Madrid is 1 billion euros (R$ 6.22 billion).

ROMÁRIO'S PASSAGE IN FLAMENGO

Romário arrived at Mais Querido to much celebration from the red and black fans. Defending the Sacred Mantle, between 1995 and 1999, he played 240 matches and scored 204 goals, taking fifth place among Rubro-Negro's top scorers.

Despite not having won major titles with the Sacred Mantle, some of them involved Romário, who was two-time Carioca champion (1996 and 1999), won the World Champions Cup (1997) and the Mercosul Cup (1999).
