Angelica turns 50 on November 30th and said she suffered sexual harassment from an older man when she was a child and was starting her career on TV. The revelation is made right at the beginning of the special program "Angélica: 50 and so", which arrived on Globoplay this Sunday (26).
“I'm Angélica by a hair's breadth. When I was going to debut on TV, a very powerful man thought that my stage name had to be Lolita, like the girl in the book”, said the presenter in the special Angélica: 50 e Tanto, with five episodes already available on Globoplay.
“It was right around that time that the man asked me to sit on his lap backstage on TV. He was an adult and I was a child. And I did everything without understanding. Today I understand”, said the blonde.
“I remember arriving at places and being asked if I was a virgin. I was a child and I kept asking myself what that topic was. They sexualized our lives in a way that we didn't even understand what was happening”, he recalled.
Lolita is the name of the character by Vladimir Nabokov and the 1955 book that tells the story of an older man who is sexually involved with a 12-year-old girl. In the new program, the presenter celebrates and remembers her almost 50-year career in conversations with personalities such as Xuxa, Eliana and Anitta.
