AFTER CONTROVERSY OVER SKIN COLOR, DWAYNE JOHNSON'S WAX STATUE WILL BE REPAINTED

The wax statue of American actor Dwayne Johnson, "The Rock", will be reinstalled at the Grevin Museum with a new color that better suits his skin tone, after the actor complained about the first version, the director indicated - General of the museum this past Tuesday (24).

Johnson, who is of Samoan origin and black, made a joke on Instagram this weekend about the wax statue that represents him in the museum, claiming that it did not look like him, particularly in relation to his skin tone and features.

The Grevin Museums, which attracts around 800,000 people a year, displayed Johnson's sculpture online social media. But the photo that was supposed to promote the new piece generated outrage among the actor's fans. In 2018, the Museum generated similar reactions with an unfavorable reproduction of the French president, Emmanuel Macron.

Through In a statement, Veronique Berecz, head of public relations at the Grevin Museum, apologized for the gaffe and confirmed that the piece is now undergoing maintenance. She further says that she found Johnson's reaction quite friendly when addressing  the fact that her figure was whiter than which he should.

Unfortunately, we don't know Dwayne Johnson, so we used multiple photos – it turns out the photos can be very tricky because the nuances of skin tones can differ depending on the lighting in the photos. Every time, the sculptor has to determine the exact shapes of the face and body, the volumes and it is always a very complicated challenge if we don't know the person... We just made an honest mistake based on the photos we saw. After we saw all these reactions on different blogs and social networks, we started the makeover immediately," he said before completing.

"We cast models based on their body measurements, and it was not an easy task , because we needed to find a man who had approximately the same body type as Dwayne Johnson – six feet tall and those huge muscles – and we found our model at a bodybuilding club,” explained Berecz.
