The new president of Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Bap continues structuring its team for the 2025-2027 three-year period. Among the new features, is the appointment of Carlos Noval as football manager of the youth teams. Right at the beginning of his management, Noval announced strategic measures to restructure the club's youth sector.

Cast reduction and functional frame

During an evaluation of the youth categories, Carlos Noval identified an excessive number of athletes and employees in Flamengo. As a first measure, the director plans to reduce both the cast and the staff. The information was released by journalist Venê Casagrande.

The objective is to keep only the essential professionals for the functioning of the department and reduce the number of players , allowing greater focus on the technical and tactical development of young athletes.

Support from José Boto

Noval's decision was reinforced after a meeting with Flamengo, José Boto. The Portuguese shared the view that the current structure has more positions and employees than necessary, especially when compared to the main European clubs. For both, restructuring is essential to optimize processes and achieve better results.

History and importance in Flamengo

Carlos Noval has a remarkable history at the club, being responsible for the youth teams in one of the biggest titles in Flamengo's history: the Club World Cup Sub-20. Under the command of coach Filipe Luís, currently coach of the professional squad, Mais Querido beat Olympiacos (GRE) 2-1 at Maracanã, in 2024, and lifted the cup.

Interestingly, Noval also carries a family legacy at the club. His father, Renato Noval, was part of the board that took Flamengo to the professional world title in 1981, when Rubro-Negro defeated Liverpool (ENG). Now, Carlos seeks to repeat his success by restructuring and strengthening Flamengo's base for future challenges.

Young Marcelo Portela drew attention on social media after a play in which he left Vini Jr. on the ground during a futsal match . The play, which ended in a goal, went viral and catapulted the athlete to national prominence.

His talent didn't go unnoticed. Flamengo reached an agreement with Botafogo to sign the midfielder to strengthen its under-15 squad. The deal involved splitting the player's rights between the clubs. The information was initially reported by the "Flazoeiro" profile.

PLAYER WAS AUTHOR OF VIRAL DRIBBLE

After the play, Vini Jr. reacted humorously and even took a photo with Portela, a gesture that further increased the video's impact. Shortly after, the number 7 returned to Spain and was instrumental in Real Madrid's La Liga performance.

In the victory over Mallorca, the Flamengo-trained striker scored the winning goal with a solo effort, dribbling past the defense and firing a cross-shot into the net. The result solidified the Brazilian's good form, which had been the target of criticism in his home country.

AND THE MARKET IN THE PROFESSIONAL TEAM

Striker Michael will be the next to leave Flamengo, as he is no longer in coach Filipe Luís's plans. The board has released the player to listen to offers and negotiate a new team in the second half of the year. Brazilian football clubs have already begun inquiries about the player.
