One of the first names confirmed on Flamengo's new board was José Boto. The Portuguese, known in European football, arrives in Brazil next Saturday (28). To get to know him better, it is necessary to understand the crucial points of the manager's work philosophy.

That's because , according to GE, one of the central points of José Boto's work philosophy is to have autonomy in the football department. In this way, the manager likes to have the power to decide even factors related to the political issues of the club he works for.

No wonder , during José Boto's time at Shakhtar Donetsk (UCR), he became known for making bold decisions, such as appointing coaches who were little known at the time. Examples of this were technicians Roberto De Zerbi and Luís Castro, who are currently recognized in the market.

Getting to know Boto

In summary, José Boto is a Portuguese with great experience in management positions at clubs such as Benfica (POR), Shakhtar Donetsk (UCR), PAOK (GRE) and NK Osijek (CRO ). It is worth remembering that the manager is one of the most influential in European football.

When will it arrive?

Finally, it is worth mentioning that José Boto has already resigned from the club which he ran until last Sunday (22): NK Osijek. Thus, the Croatian team issued a statement confirming the director's departure on a friendly basis to settle with Flamengo. Now, José Boto is expected in Brazil next Saturday (28). The director's agreement with the president of Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, is to arrive in Rio de Janeiro right after Christmas, celebrated from Tuesday (24) to Wednesday (25).

Given Flamengo's recent difficulties in signing a new number 9, a speculated name has resurfaced among fans: Gabriel Jesus . The Brazilian national team striker, currently at Arsenal in England, has reportedly been placed on the London club's transfer list for the next transfer window.

The asking price is around £30 million (approximately R$191 million at the current exchange rate) . The push for attacking reinforcements gained momentum after rejections from players like Lucas Beltrán and Mehdi Taremi, who opted to remain in European football.

ASTRONOMICAL MARKET VALUE AND WAGES

Despite being one of the most mentioned names by fans on social media and specialized forums, Gabriel Jesus' arrival in Brazilian football is considered extremely unlikely at this time. Arsenal's proposed fee is far above the financial reality of South American football, even for a club with significant investment power like Flamengo .

In addition to the high transfer fee required, the player's current salary—comparable to Premier League standards—would pose an even greater challenge. The English club, seeking to balance its finances and make room for reinforcements in other positions, sees the Brazilian striker as one of its main bargaining chips in the next window.

FLAMENGO REMAINS ON THE MARKET

Flamengo 's board continues to monitor the market for a center forward who fits the profile desired by Filipe Luís's coaching staff. After frustrations in negotiations with players who opted to remain on the Old Continent, the club is seeking viable alternatives that can strengthen the squad without compromising its financial planning.

The signing of Colombian Jorge Carrascal was made official by Flamengo this Monday (04), marking the end of a negotiation that dragged on for weeks. The 26-year-old midfielder was presented at Ninho do Urubu with the traditional delivery of the red-black shirt , ending a process that required management skills and strong legal action.

Led by technical director José Boto , the operation's main challenge was the bureaucratic procedures involving Dynamo Moscow, the player's former club. The director emphasized that the impasse was not related to the player's wishes or the agreement with the Rio de Janeiro club, but rather to measures to ensure that Flamengo would not suffer future financial or contractual losses.

" Finally introducing Jorge, after a long period that had nothing to do with negotiations. It had to do with a way to make the operation clear, so that Flamengo wouldn't pay a single euro more and wouldn't have any problems in the end," said Boto.

CARRASCAL SHOWED INTEREST

According to José Boto, Carrascal always expressed a desire to wear the red-and-black jersey , which facilitated the initial agreement. However, the negotiation became more difficult as it involved three clubs and depended on delicate legal and financial arrangements.

"It has nothing to do with him; it was easy for us to reach an agreement. Afterwards, it was difficult to work on it because it was a complicated operation , involving two other clubs. I'm grateful for his patience and the effort he put in to be here," said the technical director.

LEGAL DEPARTMENT TAKES ACTION

In a relieved mood, Boto celebrated the reinforcement's arrival. Carrascal received the number 15 jersey and posed for photos as a new player in the main squad. " I want to say that everything was done, as I said, so that Flamengo wouldn't have to pay a single euro more . Bap knows all about these things, obviously, just as he knows everything that goes on here. I'm very happy that he [Carrascal] is here."
