Botafogo expressed concern this Saturday about the security of the derby against Flamengo , at 6:30 pm this Sunday. The red-and-black club is selling tickets for the South Sector, where the black-and-white fans will be at Maracanã.
The South Sector of Maracanã is dedicated to visiting fans at Flamengo games. In games with fewer fans, such as the one against LDU last Thursday, for example, the red-and-black club usually divides the sector and sells tickets to its fans. But this is not common in matches with greater appeal, such as classics.
The Maracanã security report explicitly states that, in regional classics in which the ratio is not 50-50 , Sector C — for which the home club has been selling tickets since Friday (16) night — must remain closed... The Club requests that this decision be immediately reviewed and that the responsible bodies, as well as the home club, guarantee the safety of the black and whites in the stadium - said Botafogo in a statement.
"Botafogo publicly expresses its position on the security, operation and game service provided for the classic against Flamengo, this Sunday (18), at Maracanã, for the 9th round of the Brazilian Championship.
1 - Botafogo expresses its deep concern with the home club's decision to sell tickets to its fans in a space located in the South Sector, the same space intended for black and white fans.
2 - The Maracanã security report explicitly states that, in regional classics in which the ratio is not 50-50, Sector C — for which the home club has been selling tickets since Friday (16) night — must remain closed.
For 10 years, since the new Maracanã, this premise has been in place. The safety report is the document that summarizes the conditions allowed to the public authorities for holding matches in the stadium. This document is being breached.
3 - Botafogo does not agree with this operation and has not signed any document stating otherwise. The Club requests that this decision be immediately reviewed and that the responsible bodies, as well as the home club, guarantee the safety of the black and white fans in the stadium. Such a measure unnecessarily increases the risk to the physical integrity and well-being of Botafogo fans.
4 - Regarding the load made available to Botafogo fans during the match, the Club informs that it will allocate the same percentage to the return match.
The defender continues to improve physically and should return to the field against Internacional in the Brasileirão, after a six-match absence.

Since the victory over Fluminense on July 20, Flamengo's defense has faced a challenge in the absence of Danilo. On Monday afternoon (11), Conmebol confirmed that the 2025 Copa Libertadores da América final will be played at the Monumental Stadium in Lima, Peru, on November 29. This will be the second time that the venue hosts a tournament decision, after having hosted Flamengo 's historic victory over River Plate in 2019.
