The Brazilian Football Confederation ( CBF ) is still searching for a new coach for the Brazilian National Team, and Portuguese Jorge Jesus is emerging as the favorite to take over the position. Currently at Al Hilal, in Saudi Arabia , the former Flamengo coach has a release clause estimated at around 2.5 million euros (approximately R$16 million), an amount that the CBF would be willing to pay to make his signing possible .
According to information from journalist Mauro Cezar Pereira , from the UOL portal , the CBF's proposal foresees a fixed salary corresponding to 20% of what Jorge Jesus currently receives at the Saudi club. In return, the coach would be entitled to considerable bonuses for his performance with the National Team. The entity intends to count on the Portuguese player starting in May. However, the Amarelinha may not have to pay the fine. According to information from the Portuguese press, Al Hilal is already considering firing the coach .
Despite the mutual interest, there is a significant obstacle. Jorge Jesus has stated on several occasions that he dreams of managing both the Brazilian and Portuguese national teams, which makes accepting the invitation a viable path. However, the coach did not intend to leave Al Hilal before the Club World Cup, scheduled for June and July in the United States.
Still, the CBF is working to bring forward the coach's arrival . The move includes contact with businessmen who suggested the Portuguese coach's name to the entity, reinforcing their preference for his style and winning history.
Among those enthusiastic about the signing of Jorge Jesus is Marcos Braz , former vice-president of football at Flamengo, with whom the coach had a remarkable stint between 2019 and 2020. Together, they won five titles: the Copa Libertadores , the Campeonato Brasileiro , the Supercopa do Brasil , the Recopa Sul-Americana and the Campeonato Carioca.
This successful resume, combined with a strong identification with Brazilian football, strengthens the name of the "Mister" behind the scenes at the CBF. With negotiations underway, the next few days promise to be decisive for the future of the five-time World Cup champion team.
