A FIFA will draw at 3pm (from Brasília) this Thursday (5) the groups of the 2025 Club Super World Cup. However, the event takes place amid some uncertainty and with European teams on the receiving end.
What is still undefined?
Clubs still don't know how much they will receive for participating in the Super World Cup. The behind-the-scenes talk in December was that each participant would receive 50 million euros (R$320 million) for participating. The value would increase as the competition phases progressed. However, FIFA has not yet confirmed anything.
Companies who will be broadcasting also remains a mystery. So far, only DAZN (streaming service) has been announced as responsible for the free global broadcast of the competition. The partnership between FIFA and streaming, however, does not prevent an agreement to sell the rights to national TV channels. The entity's request for the sale of the content is US$4 billion (R$23 billion), something considered exaggerated by media companies.
The number of sponsors is still low. Fifahas, to date, only three companies with which it has signed a sponsorship contract for the Super World Cup: Bank of America ( bank), Hisense (Chinese electronics and household appliances manufacturer) and AB InBev (brewery).
Two participants are "threatened" and exclusion may occur. Pachuca and León, both from Mexico, won the Concachampions and are part of the group that belongs to businessman Jesús Martinez Patiño. FIFA banned two teams owned by the same owner from participating in the tournament. A decision must be made soon by the entity, which may allow both to participate. Alajuelense, from Costa Rica, sent a letter to the organization requesting a place for the excluded team.
Europeans scolding for calendar
The creation of the Super World Cup Clubs and the expansion of the Champions League's first phase did not go down well with European clubs and leagues. The main complaint was due to the "bloating" of the calendar. The players even threatened to go on strike, but the idea did not go ahead.

Flamengo officially announced the signing of Colombian midfielder Jorge Carrascal this Thursday (31). At 27 years old, the player arrived in Rio de Janeiro after a long journey of more than 19 hours , coming from Russia, where he played for Dynamo Moscow. He is the fourth reinforcement confirmed by the club in the window, alongside Saúl, Emerson Royal and Samuel Lino.
The acquisition of Carrascal represents another step in Flamengo's ambitious project for the remainder of the season. To complete the deal with the Russian club, Flamengo paid 12 million euros— approximately R$77.5 million at the current exchange rate —in a negotiation that dragged on for weeks.
This Thursday (31), the midfielder appeared at Ninho do Urubu, where he underwent medical examinations , visited the facilities at CT George Helal and met with the Technical Director of Football, José Boto. After the completion of the procedures, the player signed a contract with Flamengo.
Carrascal's official presentation was scheduled to take place at the Maracanã stadium before the Copa do Brasil round of 16 clash against Atlético-MG. The event follows the model adopted with Samuel Lino, who was also presented directly to fans in the stadium stands. However, the documentation was not released in time.
Negotiations between Flamengo and Dynamo Moscow began even before the Club World Cup , but faced obstacles before completion.
