Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti announced hours before the decisive Champions League match, scheduled for this Saturday (1), at 4pm (Brasília time), the Merengues' starting lineup to face Borussia Dortmund. After a brief indecision between Courtois and Lunin, the coach confirmed the Belgian goalkeeper as the starter for the game.

Goalkeeper: Courtois Defenders: Carvajal, Rüdiger, Nacho Fernández and Mendy

Midfielders: Valverde, Camavinga, Toni Kroos and Jude Bellingham

Forwards: Vinícius Junior and Rodrygo

After suffering an injury to the meniscus in his right knee, Courtois became an uncertainty for the grand final of the Champions League, as the coach feared that the goalkeeper did not fully recover in time for the game and was out of rhythm.

Due to the injury, the Belgian was excluded from Belgium's squad list for Euro 2024, announced last Tuesday (28). During the decision period for the knockout stages of the Champions League, Carlo Ancelotti counted on Andriy Lunin, who demonstrated a good performance.

Forward Petterson had his visa regularized and leaves this Thursday (25) for Portugal. Flamengo loaned the 20-year-old player to Estrela Amadora, a team in Portugal's first division. The loan contract between the Portuguese club and Mengão runs until June 2025.

If Estrela Amadora chooses to buy the player, they will have to pay the amount of €750,000 (R$4.4 million ) for 60% of Petterson's economic rights. The information is from Flazoeiro. With 9 goals in 30 games in the 2023 season, the player won three titles in Mengão's youth categories: the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil under-17, both in 2021, and the Brasileirão Under-20 in 2023. After a During his loan period at Athletico Paranaense, Petterson packed his bags for Portugal.

At the Paraná club, he debuted with a goal, but an act of indiscipline caused him to be removed and no longer play. He even had a new loan to Avaí, which didn't happen. Now he will have another chance to prove himself.

About Estrela Amadora, Petterson's new club

The club finished the last season of the Portuguese League in 14th place, with seven wins, 15 defeats and 12 draws. In the League Cup, the team was eliminated in the first round; in the Portuguese Cup, Estrela Amadora fell through in the fourth round.

The result in the Portuguese Championship, however, was considered satisfactory. This is because the team returned to compete in the local elite after 15 years. The objective was maintenance.

In the new team, Petterson can expect to find many Brazilians among his teammates. The club has names like André Luiz and Daniel Cabral (both ex-Flamengo), Bruno Brígido (ex-Criciúma) and Léo Jabá (ex-Corinthians). Currently the club plays in the pre-season of European football.

Maurício Gomes de Mattos, candidate for president of Flamengoand former director of embassies, recently shared some of the difficulties he faced when trying to implement significant changes at the club. In a frank conversation, he highlighted crucial points that, according to him, could have been beneficial for Flamengo, but which were not well accepted by the current management led by Rodolfo Landim.

Maurício reports that he tried, in several occasions, discuss important issues with Landim, but met with resistance. "I tried to talk to Landim about crucial points for us and there was no good acceptance," he said. This comment reflects one of the main challenges faced by managers and candidates for leadership positions: the need to align visions and strategies for the greater good of the club.

A GREATER PROFESSIONALISATION

In an attempt to modernize and strengthen the Flamengo, Maurício brought two important names to the negotiating table: Juni Calafat, then head of Scouting at Real Madrid, and Gustavo Grossi, former youth director from River Plate. Both are recognized for their significant contributions to developing talent and structuring grassroots teams. However, even with impressive credentials, the proposal was rejected in favor of a different model.

The decision of Pink opting for another model raises questions about the importance that Flamengo's current management gives to the development of the base and scouting. At top clubs like Real Madrid and River Plate, the academy is seen as a fundamental pillar for long-term success. Juni Calafat, for example, is known for being instrumental in discovering and signing young talents who became stars on the world stage.
