Flamengo is close to completing the signing of midfielder Juninho, who currently plays for Qarabag, from Azerbaijan. According to information from one of the athlete's agents, the European team accepted the proposal of 5 million euros, which is equivalent to around R$31 million. The final adjustments are being made to make the transfer official.
DISCRETION IN NEGOTIATIONS BRAND A RUBRO-BLACK STRATEGY
As usual, the board of CRF has adopted a tone of discretion in relation to negotiations. The idea is to avoid leaks that could impact the progress of negotiations or generate unwanted competition. The cautious stance, however, does not prevent the club from rushing to complete the process. Juninho's arrival is seen as strategic to reinforce the team's creation sector, especially after the departure of some players and the expectation of a high-level season in national and international competitions.
JUNE: A KEY PIECE FOR 2025
At 24 years old, Juninho has stood out in European football due to his technical ability and good vision of the game. At Qarabag, he is one of the team's main references, accumulating impressive numbers in goals and assists. These attributes caught the attention of Mengão, who sees the player as an important reinforcement to form the midfield.
The inclusion of Juninho in red cast -negro is also seen as an opportunity to diversify the tactical options available to the coach. Furthermore, the athlete's profile aligns with the strategy of signing young players with potential for appreciation in the international market. The process is at an advanced stage, with Mais Querido seeking agility to finalize the deal and count on Juninho already in pre-season. The red and black cast is preparing to travel to the United States, where they will begin work for the 2025 season.
HOW PRESEASON WILL HELP
Flamengo's pre-season in the United States will be marked by friendlies and intensive training to adjust the team to the demands of 2025. Juninho's presence in this context is one of the objectives of the board, which intends to integrate him into the group as soon as possible to maximize your adaptation. Mengão fans are anxiously awaiting official confirmation of the negotiation, which could take place in the next few days. With the transfer market underway, the club maintains other work fronts, but concluding the deal with Juninho is one of its priorities.
The midfielder who made history at Mengão arrived at Peixe after his contract ended in Greece, but could already be close to leaving Baixada Santista.

A regular starter for Flamengo in 2019, Willian Arão returned to Brazilian football in July 2025 to play for Santos. However, his time at Vila Belmiro may be nearing its end : the 33-year-old midfielder has only played seven minutes on the pitch and the club is already considering terminating his contract.
Arão's only appearance for Peixe came against Flamengo, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 1-0 victory, with Neymar scoring at Vila Belmiro. Since then, he has struggled with physical problems and has had to make repeated visits to the medical department , without playing any regular games.
According to journalist Lucas Musetti, the so-called "Arão case" has become a mystery behind the scenes. The player showed up with calf pain and, even though no injuries were detected in the tests , continues to complain of discomfort that prevents him from training and playing.
Santos faces Atlético-MG this Sunday (14), in Belo Horizonte, but Arão is already vetoed. The expectation was that he would train this Thursday (11), which did not happen . Now, the technical committee is working to have him available only next week. Meanwhile, the discussion about the possible termination of the contract grows.
According to Musetti, the situation is generating internal friction. The player believes he's being misjudged , while the medical department assures him there's no injury. Furthermore, Arão's decision to hire a private physiotherapist has caused unease within the club.
Mengão travels this Saturday (13) in the afternoon towards Caxias do Sul, where they will face Jaconero in the 23rd round of the Brasileirão
