It seems that the new edition of the Copa do Brasil is more competitive. This is because the Série A clubs that debuted in the competition last Tuesday (29) did not have an easy life. In matches valid for the third phase, no club from the first division managed a comfortable victory. Internacional was one of these teams, having to use extra time to beat Maracanã from Ceará, at Beira-Rio. Fluminense, on the other hand, scored only one goal at Aparecidense, in Rio de Janeiro.
Internacional's match drew attention due to some curious facts. First, the team had two goals disallowed, with time-consuming VAR reviews. Therefore, the referee had to add 15 minutes of injury time. In addition, Alan Patrick missed a penalty. However, the team from Rio Grande do Sul won the match in the 49th minute of the second half, with a goal by Gustavo Prado, taking advantage of a rebound from Wesley's crossbar: final score 1-0.
Atlético-MG faced a tough challenge in Paraná to draw 2-2 with Maringá. The home team opened the scoring with Maranhão, but Igor Rabello leveled the score. In the second half, Fausto Vera scored an own goal for the team from Paraná, and Hulk equalized again. The team from the South complained a lot about a penalty that was not awarded at the end, when a player's shirt was pulled inside the area.
Another team from Série A that stumbled was Fortaleza. Playing at Arena Pernambuco, Retrô, from the third division, took the lead with Richard Franco. However, David Luiz and Marinho's team managed to equalize in the 43rd minute of the second half, with Juan Martín Lucero, with the match ending at 1-1.
Náutico took the lead at Morumbis, with Caio Vitor opening the scoring in the 17th minute. However, the Pernambuco team had no time to celebrate, as Luciano equalized in the 21st minute and turned the score around in the first minute of the second half, giving São Paulo a 2-1 victory.
At Maracanã, Fluminense also had difficulty beating Aparecidense. The tricolor team's goal came in the 36th minute of the second half, with Keno, taking advantage of an assist from Arias.
Flamengo will only take to the field for the Copa do Brasil on Thursday (1), in a match against Botafogo-PB, in São Luis, Maranhão, at Arena Castelão. The match will start at 8 pm, with live broadcast on Prime Video.

Flamengo was leading 2-0, with goals from Pedro and Varela, and was in control of the match. However, Gonzalo Plata's red card changed the game . Down ten men, Flamengo retreated, and Estudiantes grew into the match. In stoppage time, Guido Carrillo pulled one back and kept the Argentines alive in the match. Now, Mengão needs a draw in the return leg, scheduled for next Thursday (25), in La Plata, to advance to the Libertadores semifinals.

Flamengo full-back Matías Viña made a controversial accusation after Flamengo's 2-1 victory over Estudiantes at the Maracanã stadium in the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals. According to the Uruguayan, fourth official Jhon Ospina instructed coach Eduardo Domínguez to make a substitution during the match.

A victory by two or more goals will put Domínguez's team directly in the semifinals.

Flamengo defeated Argentina's Estudiantes 2-1 at the Maracanã Stadium . The red-and-black team decided the match in the first half with goals from Pedro and Varela. Mengão gave Estudiantes no time to breathe in Rio de Janeiro with a lightning goal.
Just 15 seconds in, Pedro capitalized on a pass from Plata, turned on his marker, and fired a left-footed shot to open the scoring. The quick goal undermined Argentina's strategy and galvanized the Rio de Janeiro team, who continued to press. A few minutes later, Ayrton Lucas crossed from the left and Varela hit a beautiful volley into Muslera's corner, extending the red-and-blacks' lead in the first half.
