This past Saturday (12), Crystal Palace was unable to hold Manchester City and ended up losing 5-2, in a game valid for the Premier League. The match had the participation of former Flamengo player Matheus França , who came on in the second half.

PERFORMANCE BY MATHEUS FRANÇA

Returning from a serious injury, Matheus França entered the field in the 35th minute of the second half, replacing Eberechi Eze. The Flamengo player played for a total of 17 minutes, including the seven minutes of injury time indicated by the referee. Despite the short time, the midfielder had one chance to finish, participating in seven actions with the ball and being dispossessed on two occasions, according to information from sofascore.

Crystal Palace started the match dominating Manchester City and took a 2-0 lead in the first half. However, the Manchester team imposed their superiority with goals from O'Reilly, J. McAtee, Mateo Kovačić, Kevin De Bruyne and Omar Marmoush.

Matheus França's performance was discreet, but the sequence of minutes could be important for his adaptation to the Premier League, where he is returning from a serious injury. The player is still looking for a place under Oliver Glasner.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT GAME

Now, Matheus França 's Crystal Palace visits Newcastle, at 3:30 pm (Brasília time), in a delayed game for the 29th round of the Premier League. On the other hand, Manchester City faces Everton, for the 33rd round of the competition, on Saturday (19).

Estudiantes is already in Rio de Janeiro for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals against Flamengo , scheduled for Thursday (18), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. The Argentine team trained at Fluminense's facilities , preparing for the decisive duel.

Coach Eduardo Domínguez tested a more conservative formation, including an extra defensive midfielder in midfield, as a strategy to contain Flamengo's attacks. According to Radio Província 1270 in La Plata, the change could result in only one striker on the field , demonstrating a more solid defensive posture.

LINEUP AND POSSIBLE CHANGES

Estudiantes ' likely lineup for the clash includes: Muslera; Gómez, Nuñez, Rodríguez, Arzamendia; Ascacibar, Piovi, Amondarain, Medina, Tiago Palacios; Carrillo.

It's not yet clear whether Piovi will play as an extra midfielder or be replaced by Castro . Amondarain, despite being an attacking midfielder, could drop back and act as a third midfielder, depending on Domínguez's strategy in recent training sessions.

FLAMENGO WILL HAVE A CHALLENGE

With the prospect of a more closed Argentine team, Flamengo, under the command of Filipe Luís, will have to work hard to break down Estudiantes' defense and seek a positive result in the first leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
