Flamengo opted for a cautious move in the last transfer window, bringing in only two reinforcements: Juninho and Danilo. The defender, who came from Juventus (ITA), has shown good performance and has already won three titles with the red-black squad . In an interview with FlaTV, he commented on his quick adaptation to the club and the welcoming environment he found.
"I'm enjoying the moment. I arrived in the middle of a winning group and I feel part of it. In the first few weeks, I observed a lot to understand the dynamics of the club. I think it's essential to get to know everyone, from the players to the support staff. This creates an important connection," said Danilo.
PHYSICAL RECOVERY ON FIFA DATE
In addition to adapting to the club, Danilo is also focused on his recovery. During the break for the FIFA World Cup, he is working to overcome a grade 1 injury in the back of his right thigh. The defender did not participate in the finals of the Campeonato Carioca as he still feels muscle pain, but he is undergoing intensive treatment to be available for the opening match of the Brasileirão.
The Mais Querido medical team is closely monitoring the defender's progress, who has been carrying out specific activities to speed up his return to the field. The expectation is that he will be ready to play in the first round of the national championship. While Danilo focuses on recovery, the rest of the squad continues intense preparations for the debut in the Brazilian Championship. Mengão will take to the field next Saturday (29) against Internacional, at 9 pm, at Maracanã. Coach Filipe Luís is working to ensure that the team starts the competition with a victory.
FLAMENGO PREPARES FOR THE BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIP
The preparation includes physical, tactical and technical training, as well as detailed analysis of the opponent. The coaching staff is looking to correct mistakes made in recent matches and improve the team's cohesion. If Danilo is 100% fit, he could earn minutes against Internacional. His international experience and quality in passing the ball are attributes that could add value to CRF 's defensive sector. The competition for position, however, is intense, and the final decision will be made by the coaching staff.

After investing nearly R$300 million in the last transfer window, Flamengo faced a behind-the-scenes episode involving its attempt to sign Mikey Johnston from West Bromwich . The Rio de Janeiro club intended to pay £5 million (approximately R$37 million) for the Irish striker, but the deal was vetoed by president Bap.
In an interview with the UOL portal, executive director José Boto stated that the timing of the negotiations influenced the fans' perception and ultimately derailed the deal. " I think it was a matter of timing, because if he hadn't been the first, if he had been between Saúl and Samuel Lino, the fans might have reacted differently. Obviously, the job of scouting is to bring in players nobody knows," Boto said.
Flamengo director criticizes Brazilian football management: "There is a deep-rooted culture..."
The Portuguese manager also emphasized that Brazilian clubs still need to change their hiring mindset. " There's a deep-rooted culture in Portugal that Brazil will have to adopt sooner or later . Many clubs will have to start managing more according to the team's real needs than to the media or fans," he stated.
José Boto's first signing, Juninho has only three goals in 27 appearances for Flamengo, starting seven of them. He has not played since the 1-1 draw with Ceará on August 3rd and has not been included in the squad .

Giorgian De Arrascaeta's desire to end his career at Flamengo is already known. Now, the Uruguayan midfielder is seeking to extend his contract with the club until the end of 2028. Currently, the parties have resumed talks to reach an agreement .
The information was released by UOL reporter Bruno Braz, who highlighted the optimism surrounding the negotiations: "I believe that, if it doesn't go exactly as Arrascaeta hoped, it will be very close. The trend is for a happy ending, with Arrascaeta renewing for a longer period ," the journalist stated.
The first talks took place in early 2025, but they stalled. The player's initial intention was to renew mid-year , but the club preferred to postpone negotiations until the end of the season. The Uruguayan's current contract runs until December 2026.
While negotiating his renewal, Arrascaeta remains at Filipe Luís' disposal. Flamengo faces Estudiantes de La Plata (ARG) this Thursday (18), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time) , at Maracanã, for the first leg of the Libertadores quarterfinals.
