Club with the most players called up in Brazil, Flamengo will make a big loss in the coming weeks with the Copa América dispute. Arrascaeta, De la Cruz, Erick Pulgar, Varela and Viña, four absolute starters and a left-back who had been flirting with a place in the main team due to his excellent performances, will play against Rubro-Negro for up to nine rounds of the Brazilian Championship. And this number should still rise in the second half of the year.

Between the third and 10th round , Rubro-Negro had another game postponed, against Athletico-PR, and played seven matches during the Copa América, when Gabigol and Everton Ribeiro were in the Brazilian team, while Arrascaeta and Isla, in the Uruguayan and Chilean teams, respectively. Flamengo beat América-MG (2-0 at Maracanã); lost to Bragantino (3-2 at Maracanã); beat Fortaleza (2-1 at Maracanã); was defeated by Juventude (1-0 at Alfredo Jaconi); beat Cuiabá (2-0 at Arena Pantanal); and lost to Fluminense (1-0 at Neo Química Arena) and Atlético-MG (2-1 at Mineirão).
Without their squad, Flamengo only had 42.8% success and entered in crisis, which made him fire coach Rogério Ceni and hire Renato Gaúcho. At the opening of the 11th round, Rubro-Negro still had two games in hand and was in 12th place with 12 points, 10 behind leader Palmeiras.

This Monday (25), at 3:30 pm, Carlo Ancelotti reveals the 23 names that will represent the Brazilian National Team in the last two matches of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. The list will be announced at the CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro , with live broadcast.
The matches are scheduled for September 4th and 9th : the first against Chile at the Maracanã Stadium, and the second against Bolivia at the El Alto Municipal Stadium. Despite the already secured spot for the World Cup, which will be played in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the squad is expected to undergo significant changes.
BRAZILIAN FOOTBALL PLAYERS
The list includes players who are prominent on the national scene, a result of Ancelotti's scouting strategy, which has seen matches across Brazil in recent weeks. Among those likely to be called up by Flamengo are Danilo, Léo Pereira, Léo Ortiz, Alex Sandro, and Samuel Lino .
Besides Flamengo , other Brazilian clubs could also appear in the squad. Cruzeiro could have four names in the mix, including Kaio Jorge, Matheus Pereira, and Fabrício Bruno. Goalkeeper Gabriel Brasão, currently with Santos and a product of the Minas Gerais team, is also on the Italian coach's shortlist.

Flamengo is ready to face Vitória , this Monday (25), in a duel valid for the 21st round of the Brazilian Championship. Coach Filipe Luís outlined the starting team with Saúl and Jorginho in midfield and Pedro leading the attack.
With practically the entire squad at his disposal, coach Filipe Luís should send onto the field a Flamengo with: Rossi; Varela (Royal), Léo Ortiz (Danilo), Léo Pereira, Alex Sandro; Jorginho, Saúl, Arrascaeta, Plata (Luiz Araújo), Samuel Lino and Pedro.
The only confirmed absence is Erick Pulgar, who is still recovering from a fractured right foot suffered during the Club World Cup —an injury that required surgery. Otherwise, Filipe Luís will have virtually his entire squad available for the match.
This round is crucial in the title race. Flamengo leads the Brasileirão with 43 points, two ahead of Cruzeiro , who have already won this round and reached 41. Palmeiras, with 39 points, also plays this Monday and could close the gap.
The Flamengo vs. Vitória clash takes place at 9 p.m. (Brasília time) at the Maracanã stadium. The match will be broadcast live on SporTV (a cable channel) and Premiere (pay-per-view). While Flamengo is leading, Vitória is looking to score points to escape the relegation zone.

Flamengo remains firm in the fight for the 2025 titles . This Monday (25), the team faces Vitória, at Maracanã, and next Sunday (31) it returns to the stadium to face Grêmio in another decisive duel and with an important novelty at the stadium .
On Monday morning, Maracanã management announced the installation of a new high-tech synthetic turf behind the goals, intended for the players' warm-up area. The goal is to provide greater safety and quality during exercises performed while the ball is in play.

Maracanã 's Agricultural Manager, Gabriel Rodrigues, highlighted that the priority is to offer an adequate space to the athletes: “ This renovation in the synthetic grass system for warming up will provide the athletes with a safe, comfortable surface that meets the quality standards required by the confederations”, he stated.
Installation will begin this Tuesday (26), after the game against Vitória. Thus, the first match to feature the new feature will be between Flamengo and Grêmio, next Sunday (31), at Maracanã. Therefore, against Vitória, at 9 pm (Brasília time), the players will still use the current warm-up structure .
