Flamengo has gained a major reinforcement on the eve of the most anticipated game of the season. Recovered from injury, midfielder Nico De La Cruz participated normally in the activity this Saturday (28), at the delegation's improvised training center in Miami, and may be included in the squad for the duel against Bayern Munich. The match, valid for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, takes place this Sunday (29), at 5 pm (Brasília time), at Hard Rock Stadium.
The return of the Uruguayan, who has been out of action since May 18, comes at a strategic time for coach Filipe Luís . De La Cruz had been out for 40 days due to a muscle injury and had been treated with caution by Flamengo's medical department . The initial expectation was that he would be out of the start of the tournament's knockout stages, but the progress in his recovery process has accelerated his return.
Taking part in the tactical activity with the ball alongside his teammates was a significant step forward. Internally, the athlete has been feeling increasingly confident and has shown good physical response in physical and physiological tests. Last Friday (27), the player himself had already shown optimism in an interview with FlaTV. Even without confirming his presence in the match, he made it clear that his goal was to be available.
According to De La Cruz, since the diagnosis, his focus has been completely on the match against the German team. Even with tight deadlines, the number 18 believes he can still be useful. If he is released, De La Cruz offers an important alternative for the midfield sector. His presence can expand Filipe Luís' tactical range, whether as a starter or a second-half player, depending on the intensity and design of the match.
With Gerson, Allan and Arrascaeta as likely starters, the Uruguayan emerges as a dynamic alternative, capable of playing inside, putting pressure on the marking and offering quality ball release. Despite being out of action in recent weeks, De La Cruz has closely followed the team's preparation for the World Cup. For him, the group is strong physically and mentally, and Flamengo is capable of beating the powerful Bayern.
Shirt 10 reveals that there was a conversation between him, Filipe Luís and Bruno Henrique about who would inherit the armband after Gerson was sold to Mengão

After Gerson's transfer to Zenit, the Flamengo captaincy position was open , and the competition seemed obvious to both fans and coach Filipe Luís. Mengão star Arrascaeta revealed that he relinquished the armband in favor of Bruno Henrique . The Uruguayan only takes over the armband when the number 27 is not on the field, a situation that occurs frequently.
Arrascaeta on Bruno Henrique as captain at Flamengo: "I prefer him to be number one"
"We had a meeting after Gerson left, and Filipe came to me and asked if I or Bruno would be the first captain. I said it didn't matter to me, because I know what a great person and friend Bruno is by my side ," Arrascaeta said.
The Uruguayan justified his choice by highlighting the friendship and admiration he has for his strike partner. Just as he treated the number 10 shirt while Gabigol was at the club, Arrascaeta does not intend to wear the armband while Bruno Henrique is at Flamengo .
"When he's available, I prefer him to be number one, because he's a guy I admire a lot, both on and off the field . He's a great friend of mine," added the Uruguayan star, highlighting his bond with the number 27.
Since arriving at Flamengo together in 2019, Arrascaeta and Bruno Henrique have become symbols of one of the club's most successful eras . Together, they have won 14 titles: four Campeonato Carioca titles, two Campeonato Brasileiro titles, two Libertadores titles, three Super Cups, one Recopa Sudamericana title, and two Copa do Brasil titles.

An idol of a generation of fans in the 2000s, Renato Abreu was once again a topic of conversation among Flamengo fans this Friday (15). In an interview with journalist Rock Hudson, the former midfielder stated that he would have space in Flamengo's current squad , in addition to mentioning former teammates who, according to him, would also play without difficulty.
Renato Abreu on changes at the club: "Today Flamengo is well structured"
" I would play. I think even in a different way ," said Renato, sparking a stir on social media. The eternal King Vulture also stated that other teammates he played with would also have opportunities in the current Flamengo squad.
"It's not just me, okay? If you put Léo Moura or Juan in, any player would play . Why do I say that? Because Flamengo is well-structured today. I found it easy to play on the wing, to play a little further forward. I think I would easily play," the former player added.
When asked about the competition in the current midfield of the red-black team, Renato recalled the list of important players available to Filipe Luís : Arrascaeta, Saúl Ñíguez, Jorginho, Allan, Everton Araújo, Erick Pulgar and Matheus Gonçalves.
"Would I compete for a position? With any of them? I would. I don't know if I would be a starter or a reserve, but I would definitely play for Flamengo ," said the former midfielder, now 47 and retired since 2013, when he ended his career with Santos.
Renato Abreu played for Flamengo twice, totaling five seasons. By the time he left the club in 2013 , he had already won two Brazilian Cups and two Carioca Championships, and had made his mark as one of the team's key players in the 2000s.

Opened on August 4, 2023, the Flamengo Museum celebrated its second anniversary this month. To mark the occasion, the club held an event attended by great idols such as Zico, Andrade, Mozer, Nélio, and Olivinha. Mengão's eternal number 10 emphasized the importance of preserving the club's history , which, according to him, had previously been practically forgotten.
Zico on Flamengo's history before the Museum: "It was lying on the floor"
"Everything we fought and sweated for over the years was thrown to the ground. From that day on, I began to take action so that this wouldn't happen to the history that was to come , beyond football. Seeing all this today is gratifying," said Zico .
The idol also emphasized the value of the space for fans and athletes: " This tribute is from the club, from its history, from the club I learned to love . All the sweat I shed in training and games was because I was a Flamengo fan. I'm very happy. Every fan should know about this place. Here are the athletes and employees who helped the club become what it is today," he added.
In two years, the Museum has welcomed more than 240,000 visitors. The club plans to make Mengão's history "traveling," taking the collection to states in the North and Northeast . Among those honored is Olivinha, considered the "god of race" in basketball:
"I feel privileged. I've been here almost half my life and been through a lot. Having a bust here, next to Zico, is incredible. I never imagined it . As a basketball player, I'm representing Olympic sports. It's an honor to be the first Olympian to receive this honor. The museum is incredible," celebrated Olivinha.
The celebration in Gávea featured moments where attendees shared memorable stories. Zico, for example, revealed that the goal he celebrated most in his life was Rondinelli's in the 1978 Campeonato Carioca final against Vasco.
