This Thursday (8), Bolívar played its last game before facing Flamengo at Maracanã, next Thursday (15). Newly arrived at the Bolivian club, Brazilian striker Fábio Gomes was the team's highlight in the 2-0 victory against Jorge Wilstermann in the Bolivian Championship.

The player scored in the 48th minute of the second time and opened the way for Bolívar's victory, which extended with Oviedo, in the 51st minute. The team is the isolated leader of the championship, with 23 points gained in ten games.

Fábio Gomes is 27 years old and belongs to Atlético-MG. The striker arrived at Bolívar in July, on loan. The Brazilian has played for Vasco, in 2022, and Juventude, 2023. In addition to him, Flamengo's opponent has two more Brazilians in the squad; Bruno Sávio, midfielder and defender Anderson.

Flamengo begins the clash with Bolívar, in the Libertadores, at Maracanã. The expectation is that they will achieve a good result to gain an advantage. This is because the return game will be at 3,640 meters above sea level in La Paz, the Bolivian capital, and Bolívar's campaign shows how the location makes a difference.

The team won all three home games in the group stage and ranked first with 13 points. One of these games was against Flamengo, when the Bolivian team won 2-1. At Maracanã, Mais Querido beat their rival 4-0.

The ideal is for the team to repeat an elastic score in the first game to go in a more comfortable scenario to play at altitude. The second and decisive game of the round of 16 of the Libertadores will be on August 22nd.
