Flamengo has been a showcase for players who want to play in Europe. Furthermore, the base's jewels also leave Mais Querido very early, as were the cases of Vinícius Júnior, Lucas Paquetá, Reinier, João Gomes and Rodrigo Muniz. Thus, the sporting director of Wolverhampton (ING), Matt Robbs, revealed the details of the negotiation involving João Gomes.

Robbs spoke about João Gomes' signing and adaptation period upon arriving at the English club. Remembering that Wolverhampton bought the young midfielder in January 2023 for 18.7 million euros (R$ 103.2 million).

"Remember that when João Gomes appeared, he had "Six months to be under the command of Mário and Ruben and get used to the country and the Premier League with minutes off the bench. Wolverhampton is very different to Rio, so we need to give him time to establish himself socially", said Matt Robbs. .

PARTNERSHIP WITH ANDRÉ AT WOLVERHAMPTON

Now, João Gomes will be joined by André, ex-Fluminense. The midfielder was sold to the English club last Thursday (29) and has already arrived in England. Matt Robbs revealed that the "Wolves" were already interested in the player, but that they did not have the money to sign him alongside Gomes in 2023.

"He has the same agent as João Gomes and is a who we spoke to when we signed João. We didn't have the financial conditions in other transfer windows to sign him, when we were interested", he concluded.

FEATURED IN EUROPE

< In his first season in Europe, João Gomes stood out in a positive way. This is because the young midfielder finished among the three best midfielders in the Premier League, behind only Vinícius Souza, ex-Flamengo and João Palhinha. Furthermore, other English clubs are also investigating the player.

Flamengo continues to focus on its youth academy as a key component of its sports planning. In recent hours, the club has confirmed the arrival of three young talents to its U-16 squad: Carlos Henrique, Jhon Kennedy, and Julio Cézar.

The athletes were discovered through a partnership with the Wilson Goiano Sports Center (CEWG), a project that has been one of Flamengo 's main recruiting hubs in the Central-West region. The observation was made by Jonhes, the scout responsible for scouting athletes in the area. Recruitment through CEWG is part of a policy that Flamengo has strategically implemented, diversifying its recruiting sources and expanding its presence in regions less explored by major training centers.

A TRIO THAT WILL BEAR FRUIT

The trio's arrival is another move by the club in its effort to keep the youth academy stocked with athletes with a competitive profile and potential for development. Since Filipe Luís's arrival as youth academy coach, the technical and tactical demands have increased , raising the level of internal pressure and favoring those who excel early.

NAMES OF ARRIVING ATHLETES

Carlos Henrique is an ambidextrous winger with physical strength, speedy dribbling, and technical skill. In addition to playing as a winger, he can also be used as a third midfielder, a role valued by youth coaching staffs for his versatility. With long strides and good aerial ability, the youngster draws attention for his physical maturity and ability to read space in attacking transitions.

Jhon Kennedy, meanwhile, arrives with the nickname "Cuiabano" (Cuiabano) due to his physical resemblance to the Botafogo full-back. A native of the state of Goiás, the new U-16 signing is known for his physical strength and precision crossing. The young left-back possesses characteristics that align with what modern football demands: intense marking, good timing on the ball, and consistent arrival in the attacking half.

Carlo Ancelotti, the Brazilian national team coach, was in the United States during the Club World Cup and praised the performance of the Brazilian teams in the tournament. According to the renowned Italian coach, the results achieved by Fluminense, Botafogo, Flamengo, and Palmeiras demonstrate that Brazilian football remains competitive on the international stage.

Ancelotti on the Brazilians in the World Cup: “Fluminense had a great campaign, reaching the semifinals, and Botafogo beat PSG, but Palmeiras and Flamengo also proved they can compete with the best European teams.”

The national team manager's praise highlights the growing presence and competitiveness of Brazilian clubs in intercontinental competitions. Fluminense's campaign, which finished in the top four of the championship, and Botafogo's unexpected victory against Paris Saint-Germain drew attention. On the other hand, Palmeiras and Flamengo , although they didn't reach the final stages, showed resilience in direct confrontations against major teams from the Old Continent.

Ancelotti's analysis comes at a strategic time, as the coach is preparing the national team for upcoming international challenges and focusing on developing the players currently playing in Brazil. The team's presence at the tournament also highlighted the national team's ongoing monitoring of the players playing in Brazil.

FLAMENGO'S PERFORMANCE

Flamengo's participation was marked by a very positive group stage combined with a victory over Chelsea, which secured international respect. However, the elimination to Bayern Munich highlighted some of the team's defensive vulnerabilities in high-level matches.

Although the departure was early, the performance was respectable, and the club left the Club World Cup with prestige and international visibility , representing Brazilian football in an exemplary way in an increasingly competitive global scenario.
