Flamengo plans to use construction potential of Gávea with the aim of obtaining resources for the construction of its own stadium on the Gasologista site, located in the port area of Rio de Janeiro. At an event at the club's headquarters this Friday (22), president Rodolfo Landim revealed that mayor Eduardo Paes will sign the document authorizing the transfer on Monday.

“On Monday (25), the mayor will be here in this room, signing a decree in which he will be removing all the construction potential of that land. The result of a negotiation that was made with Caixa Econômica Federal. This construction potential was transferred to a series of other lands that the City Hall transferred. Everything is approved”, said Landim after presenting the stadium project.

Then, the current president highlighted that Eduardo Paes will give more details about the transfer of constructive potential.

“The mayor will be forwarding a special action project with the construction potential of that land. In other words, to give the constructive potential of the Gávea land as money stamped for the construction of the stadium. This is money that we can only use to build the stadium. And he will be here on Monday talking about exactly that,” he added.

What is constructive potential? Flamengo wants the mechanism for the stadium

This instrument, called Transfer of the Right to Build (TDC), grants the owner of a site uses its construction potential elsewhere, sells it to another owner or donates it to the public authorities. Flamengo understands that this is one of the main sources of income to build the stadium in Gasometer without hurting the club's coffers.

Commentator Denílson revealed that Filipe Luís is in no rush to renew his contract with Flamengo. The coach's contract runs until the end of the current season, and although he is highly valued internally , his lack of clarity opens the door to speculation and even potential interest from European clubs if a deal doesn't materialize.

Denílson on Filipe Luís at Flamengo: "He signaled that he still doesn't want to renew"

Despite his excellent work at the helm of the club, Filipe Luís will likely negotiate a salary increase to extend his contract . According to Denílson, the board understands that the former full-back has already become a technical and strategic asset to the club, but the decision should be made naturally in the coming months.

JORGE JESUS WILL NOT RETURN TO FLAMENGO

During his commentary, Denílson mentioned Jorge Jesus, currently at Al-Nassr, but ruled out any possibility of the Portuguese coach returning to Flamengo . He believes the coach will be remembered only for his winning streak in 2019 and 2020, without posing a threat to the continuity of the current project.

"Filipe Luís has signaled that he doesn't want to renew yet. Flamengo said: 'Shall we renew? Wait a minute.' If Filipe Luís doesn't renew, who would be a good name for this Flamengo ? They're in a good phase and swimming with ease... But forget it, this guy (Jorge Jesus) isn't coming back ," said Denílson.

WHAT'S FLAMENGO'S NEXT GAME?

Due to the FIFA World Cup, Flamengo will be sidelined for two weeks. Filipe Luís's side will return to action on September 14th at 4pm (Brasília time) against Juventude at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. With 47 points, Flamengo remains in the lead, followed by Cruzeiro (44) and Palmeiras (43).
