EITA! PLAYER LOANED FROM FLAMENGO MAY BE BACK SOONER THAN PLANNED

The player was at Athletico-PR, but was recently removed due to indiscipline, although the club did not provide many details.

Newly signed by Athletico Paranaense for the 2024 season, striker Petterson was removed from the team due to indiscipline. The Curitiba club would even be considering return him to Flamengo, who loaned him until the end of the season, with a definitive purchase clause valued at 3 million euros (R$ 16 million). The reason for the departure, however, was not disclosed.

Currently a reserve for Gonzalo Mastriani, Petterson has only entered the field once this season, having even scored goal against Londrina, in the Campeonato Paranaense. He has been with Hurricane for less than a month. The player will train separately from the rest of the Athletico squad, and the board of directors of the club from Paraná is considering returning him to Flamengo.

The 20-year-old arrived at Athletico on a season-long loan, and the agreement with Rubro-Negro provides for a purchase option clause worth a fixed amount of three million euros (R$16 million in current quote).

The 20-year-old striker has a contract with Flamengo until the end of 2027 and a termination fine of 100 million euros (R$533.6 million at current prices). Barcelona (ESP) even expressed interest in signing the young man, but the conversations did not progress.

AT FLAMENGO

Before moving to Athletico, Petterson played in the games against Nova Iguaçu and Portuguesa, on January 21 and 27 respectively, for the Campeonato Carioca. He embarked for his new home shortly after the duel against Lusa, which was played in Natal. It is also worth remembering that he was Brazilian Champion in the Under-20 category last year wearing the Sacred Mantle.

Flamengo will have an important reinforcement for the duel this Thursday (18), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã. Defender Léo Ortiz returns to the starting lineup after serving an automatic suspension in the Brasileirão and is confirmed for the first leg of the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals against Estudiantes.

In addition to Léo Ortiz , other players are available again for Filipe Luís , including Varela and Bruno Henrique, who were rested against Juventude. Alex Sandro and Jorginho, on the other hand, remain doubtful and will have their fitness assessed shortly before the match.

HANGING ROD

Right-back Guillermo Varela, the team's starting right-back, is on the field with a yellow card. If he receives another warning, the Uruguayan will be out of the second leg, scheduled for September 25th at Jorge Luis Hirschi Stadium in La Plata.

PROBABLE LINEUPS

To face Estudiantes, Flamengo must maintain the base of the team that has been playing: Rossi; Varela (Emerson Royal), Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira and Ayrton Lucas (Viña); Saúl, De La Cruz (Jorginho) and Arrascaeta; Plata, Pedro and Samuel Lino.

Eduardo Domínguez will have almost his entire squad available for the game later today. He's expected to field the following: Muslera; Román Gómez, Santiago Núñez, Facundo Rodríguez, and Santiago Arzamendia; Ascacíbar, Gabriel Neves, Amondarain, and Medina; Tiago Palacios and Guido Carrillo.
