On the night of this past Sunday (29), Flamengo played its last game of the month of September and beat Athletico-PR by the score of 1-0. After the triumph, Tite left the technical command of Mais Querido, and dismisses with a gain of just 38% in the month. In total, there were only two wins, two draws and three defeats.

In September, Mais Querido played four rounds of the Brasileirão, a clash in the Copa do Brasil and the round-trip games of the quarter-finals of the Libertadores . Thus, Rubro-Negro entered the field in three different competitions, scored six goals and conceded seven.

In this environment, Flamengo failed to be effective in the Libertadores and ended up being eliminated by Peñarol. In the Brasileirão, Mais Querido saw other teams touch the G-4. The positive result was in the Copa do Brasil, with the classification for the semi-finals.

In the next round of the Brasileirão, Flamengo will face Bahia, but the expected reunion with Everton Ribeiro will not happen. The player, who currently wears the Bahia shirt, was hanging and ended up receiving a yellow card in the last game against Criciúma, which prevents him from facing his former club, where he became an idol.

After During the match, Everton Ribeiro lamented the situation, expressing sadness at not being able to play against Flamengo. He admitted that the card was the result of an oversight, but stated that he trusts his teammates to represent Bahia well. However, the red-and-black fans hope that the star is mistaken and that Mengão emerges victorious.

“Unfortunately, I got a stupid card, I didn't need it. I was alone. Whoever enters will get the job done. Regardless of who plays, they will do their best”, said the former Flamengo captain.

The card came in the final minutes of the match, when Everton Ribeiro committed a foul on Jhonata Robert while trying to tackle and ended up hitting the opponent's foot.

Filipe Luís took over as Flamengo's interim coach after Tite's dismissal, made official this Monday (30). The red-and-black idol, who was in his first year as a coach leading the club's under-20s, becomes the third interim in Rodolfo Landim's management since Jorge Jesus' departure. Before him, Maurício Souza and Mário Jorge took over the main team on a provisional basis. Below, the history of both.

Like Filipe, the interims who took charge of the professional team were also base coaches. With the frequent change of coaches at Flamengo, which is already in its ninth coach since the departure of Jorge Jesus, the commanders of the youth categories need to always be ready to be called upon. Those who held the position temporarily in recent years managed to maintain a good performance.

Maurício Souza

Maurício Souza, known as Mauricinho, was the first interim member of the post-Jorge Jesus era. He was announced after Domenec Torrent's dismissal in 2020, but did not manage the team, as Rogério Ceni was hired shortly afterwards. However, Mauricinho had the opportunity to lead Flamengo in 2021, after Ceni's departure, achieving important victories over Ceará and Chapecoense. He was also called up at the end of the Brasileirão for the last four games, achieving one victory, one draw and two defeats.

In an interim period, Maurício led the team while Rogério Ceni recovered from Covid-19 , adding three victories in that period. His numbers as interim coach were:

9 games

6 wins

1 draw

2 losses

70.3% success rate

11 goals scored

6 goals conceded

Mário Jorge

Mário Jorge, multiple champion at Flamengo's academy, was called up twice in 2023 to take over the main team. After Vitor Pereira's dismissal, he led Flamengo in two matches, with a defeat in the Copa do Brasil against Maringá and a victory in the Brasileirão against Coritiba. In a second moment, after Sampaoli's departure and before Tite's arrival, Mário Jorge led the team in the victory over Bahia and in the draw against Corinthians, both in the Brasileirão.

His interim numbers were :

4 games

2 wins

1 draw

1 loss

58.3% success rate

5 goals scored

3 goals conceded

Now, Filipe Luís will have the opportunity to lead Flamengo in a decisive phase, with the semi-final of the Copa do Brasil against Corinthians ahead.

The "marriage" between Tite and Flamengo officially came to an end this Monday (30), with the announcement of the coach's dismissal. Thus, the coach ends his time at Rubro-Negro after 70 games, with a 64.7% success rate, in addition to having won a state title and suffering a disappointing elimination in the Libertadores da América.

Tite took over Flamengo on October 9, 2023, after the departure of Jorge Sampaoli. The former Brazilian national team coach signed a contract until the end of 2024, but his departure comes three months ahead of schedule.

During his time in charge of Flamengo, Tite accumulated 70 matches, totaling 41 wins, 13 draws and 16 defeats. Under his management, the team scored 109 goals and conceded 50. He also led the team to win the Campeonato Carioca undefeated.

Despite a promising start, Flamengo's performances under his command of Tite did not please the majority of the fans. The team, which led the Brasileirão for a few rounds, began to oscillate and currently occupies fourth place with 48 points, nine behind leader Botafogo, who has 57.

Elimination in the Libertadores

Three-time Libertadores champion, Flamengo entered the 2024 edition as one of the favorites and top seed of Group E. However, the team's performance in the group stage fell below expectations, resulting in a second-place finish. In the round of 16, Mais Querido beat Bolívar (BOL) 2-1 on aggregate, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals after being defeated by Peñarol (URU) without managing to score a goal.

Departure of the Technical Committee

In addition to Tite, the entire technical committee is also leaving Flamengo. Among the professionals leaving the club are assistants Cleber Xavier, Matheus Bachi, César Sampaio and Vinícius Bergantin, physical trainer Fábio Mahseredjian and performance analyst Lucas Oliveira.
