Formed in the youth ranks of Flamengo , former player Leonardo spoke again about the controversy surrounding the 1987 Brazilian Championship title . For the current sports manager, there is no logic in considering Sport the champion of the edition, and the main person responsible for the confusion was the CBF itself.

"No, no, with all due respect to Sport, but you know what? First, it's a shame that the CBF is so anomaly, that they don't recognize it and then they do [...] But I think at the time, they admitted they couldn't organize the championship . So, they gave Clube dos 13 the opportunity to organize the competition," Leonardo told Charla Podcast.
According to the former full-back, the Green Module brought together the country's main clubs, such as the 12 biggest clubs in Brazilian football , while the Yellow Module functioned as a kind of second division, with the country's most alternative teams.
" The Green Module brings together the country's top 20 clubs. The other, from 20th to 40th . Series A, Series B, man. Two champions emerge. Then they say they have to play a game to recognize the Brazilian title. Honestly, it's a bit of a... So, Flamengo —I don't want to say right or wrong—didn't show up for that game. Inter wouldn't show up either, São Paulo wouldn't show up, because they signed. Then Sport showed up and lost this game that never happened. And the debate continues to this day," he added.
That year, lacking the financial means to organize the tournament, the CBF authorized the Clube dos 13 to create the Copa União , contested by the country's 16 most prominent clubs, called the Green Module. However, the confederation later reversed its decision, creating the Yellow Module, and requiring a crossover between the champions of each module.
Flamengo and Internacional, the two best teams in the Green Module, refused to face Sport and Guarani, leaders of the Yellow Module. As a result, the Pernambuco team won by a landslide and was officially recognized by the CBF . Still, for much of the public, Flamengo 's title in the Green Module is seen as the true Brazilian Championship.
The former full-back was a starter on a star-studded team that included Zico, Renato Gaúcho, Bebeto, and Zinho. For him, the historic significance of the title goes beyond the legal dispute: " I think there should be official recognition and popular recognition . That, if we analyze it, is Zico's last title of the 1980s," Leonardo noted.
The player would not have a place with coach Filipe Luís and, after a failed attempt to negotiate with the Portuguese team, he will be a Peixe player.

Midfielder Victor Hugo was officially announced as a reinforcement for Santos this Tuesday (02). With no space at Flamengo, the player signed a loan contract valid until July 2026. The agreement does not provide a purchase option, but guarantees the São Paulo club the right of preference in the event of a future negotiation.

Coach Carlo Ancelotti led, this Monday (01), the first training session of the Brazilian National Team at Granja Comary, in Teresópolis (RJ). The activity marked the beginning of the preparation during the FIFA Date, but had important absences, such as Samuel Lino and Lucas Paquetá, who only carried out regenerative work in the gym.
Samuel Lino defended Flamengo in the 1-1 draw with Grêmio, in the Brasileirão , on Sunday (31). Paquetá played for West Ham (ING), in the 3-0 victory over Nottingham Forest (ING), in the Premier League. For the same reason, Jean Lucas (Bahia) also limited his participation to light activities.

Joshua, an 18-year-old attacking midfielder , has been attracting attention after excelling in the U-20 Libertadores , the tournament that secured Flamengo a spot in the U-20 World Cup. In the final against Barcelona (ESP), the youngster started. Since then, he has been scouted by European clubs.

Flamengo renewed Joshua's contract until 2029 and stipulated a €50 million (approximately R$318 million) release clause . The contract reinforces the club's confidence in the midfielder's potential, as he is already a regular participant in the professional team's activities under Filipe Luís.
So far, Joshua has only made one appearance for the main squad: a late substitute against Botafogo-PB in the Copa do Brasil, totaling 11 minutes of action . However, he has a longer run of appearances with the under-20s. He has played 16 matches, starting 12 of them, demonstrating the club's commitment to giving him a run-in without rushing his final transition.
With Joshua available, the team returns to action on September 14th against Juventude at 4 pm (Brasília time) at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium in Caxias do Sul , for the 23rd round of the Brasileirão. Flamengo is looking to end a long winless streak at the Jaconero stadium. The last time they won there was on October 1st, 1997, when the score ended 1-0 to Juventude, thanks to an own goal by Rodrigo Costa.
