Idol as a player and multi-champion as manager of Flamengo, Juan is the new technical manager of the Brazilian team. He was hired by the CBF to be the link between players, coaching staff and performance analysis in the next World Cup cycle. And for the former player, his experience at Mais Querido will be beneficial for his new role.

In the Brazilian team, Juan will meet former Flamengo teammates, Dorival Júnior, new coach, and Rodrigo Caetano, who will have an executive role . In an interview with GE, Juan gave details of his new role and said that he already has an old relationship with Dorival will be important.


“The experience I had on the field is very important, I carry that into my new career, but the affinity for having already worked with the Dorival. I know the coaching staff, I know how they think. For the work we did at Flamengo, which turned out very well in 2022. All of this added to my career as a national team player gives me credibility and peace of mind to carry out this role”, said Juan.

Juan will have a role “ totally technical” in the National Team

When asked about his role in the Brazilian Football Confederation, Juan explained that he will have a purely technical role:

“This connection between the board, players and commission worked very well at Flamengo, but focused on the technical part. It is a completely technical role, participating in processes analyzing not only the team, but also the opponents. I watched the training and we are going in that direction”, he stated.

Tite defined Flamengo and announced the 11 starters who will face Peñarol, this Thursday, at Maracanã, at 7pm. De la Cruz returns to the starting lineup in place of Léo Ortiz, and Alex Sandro and Plata were retained. The duel with the Uruguayans is the first between the teams in the quarter-finals of the Copa Conmebol Libertadores.



Following is the Red and Black lineup:Rossi, Varela, Fabrício Bruno, Léo Pereira and Alex Sandro; Pulgar, De la Cruz, Gerson and Arrascaeta; Plata and Bruno Henrique.

Alex Sandro and Plata, debutants in last Sunday's classic, remain in the team after having good performances in the draw against Vasco. Gabigol is now out of the relationship due to fibrosis in the posterior muscle of his right thigh. Flamengo, in a statement, reported that the athlete did not suffer any injury in the region. "The Clube de Regatas do Flamengo informs that the athlete Gabriel Barbosa underwent tests that did not diagnose an injury to the posterior muscle of his right thigh. However, the Technical Committee opted for precaution and did not list him for the duel against Peñarol due to fibrosis in the region. Gabi is handed over to physiotherapists and physical trainers for the series of decisive games of the season."
