Flamengo lives with crises off the field almost naturally, but the scenario at the beginning of the last decade was very different from what players experience. Starting goalkeeper, Bruno was arrested for the murder of Eliza Samudio, and the case generated consequences for Gávea. The one who remembers the turbulent day to day life at the club is striker Diogo, who arrived at the club in 2010 shortly after his arrest.

“It's fantastic, a fantastic thing (Flamengo fans). Of course, the team wasn't doing so well at that time. There was a demand and it was a very complicated year for Flamengo. I arrived and 10 days before the Bruno case had happened, when he was arrested”, began the former player in participation in the program 'Zona Mista do Hernan', on UOL.

Diogo arrived at the club in end of July, two weeks after the arrest and with the crisis already established. The athlete stated that he does not remember anyone talking about the subject even once, not athletes, managers or other employees. He understands that the decision, at least by the players, was intended to protect the team in an attempt not to worsen the crisis that was already huge on the field.

“No one would talk about the subject. As the moment was no longer good, it seemed that they were not talking about how the group could defend itself and protect itself (shield) from the moment that was not good on the field and even worse outside. And it was natural, it wasn’t something we agreed on ‘don’t say anything about that’. I don't remember bringing up the subject or having anything said.”

The strategy didn't work out very well, as Flamengo finished the Brazilian Championship in 14th place with 44 points, just two more than the first relegated Vitória. Diogo, on the other hand, was unable to establish himself in the red-black team and returned to his club after the end of his loan. But he suggests that the scenario influenced his football.

“At the same time it was very cool to play for Flamengo, but it was a year when there was a change of coach, in the case of Bruno. It was a 'combo' that year”, said the striker who played just 17 games with Manto Sagrado.

Bruninho Samudio, son of model Eliza Samudio and former goalkeeper Bruno, has been attracting attention in Rio football. At just 14 years old, the young man was recently hired by Botafogo to reinforce the club's youth teams. During a walk in a shopping mall in Mato Grosso, Bruninho was approached by fans and took photos with admirers, who are already beginning to see him as a promise of the sport.

In an interview with the website "Programa Meu Mato Grosso ", Bruninho expressed his happiness with the opportunity to play at Botafogo's academy. "I'm very happy to have this opportunity to play for Botafogo, in the youth category. I'm going to try to perform as much as possible to reach the professional ranks, because my goal is the professional ranks," said the young man. Asked about his inspirations, Bruninho pointed to goalkeeper Mycael Pontes, from Athletico Paranaense, as one of his great references in football.

ATTEMPT TO APPROACH HIS FATHER , BRUNO FERNANDES

More than 14 years after the murder of Eliza Samudio, former goalkeeper Bruno Fernandes, convicted of the crime, tries to get closer to his son, Bruninho. Since the young man signed with Botafogo, Bruno, who is currently on probation, has started to follow in the boy's footsteps in football. According to sources interviewed by the newspaper EXTRA, the former athlete expressed, for the first time, an interest in meeting his son, recognizing him as his own and wanting to "help" him in his career.

COURT DISPUTES AND BRUNINHO'S LIFE

Since Bruninho's birth, his grandmother, Sônia Moura, has been fighting a battle in court to ensure that her grandson receives the pension rights and other compensation, which would already exceed the R$1 million mark. Furthermore, the boy did not receive prison benefits during the period Bruno was in prison, a right granted to the former goalkeeper's sisters.

A BRUNO'S CAREER IN DECLINE

While Bruninho Samudio takes his first steps towards a possible career in professional football, his father, Bruno Fernandes, continues to decline on the pitch. Currently, he tries to stay in the sport by playing for amateur teams, but his performance is far from the time when he was considered for the Brazilian team, before his conviction for the murder of Eliza Samudio.
