Former player Muller, a four-time World Cup winner, praised Flamengo's squad in an interview with Charla Podcast, stating that the Rio de Janeiro club already boasts the best squad in South America. According to him, the team is prepared to compete in all competitions at full strength , in addition to having a significant financial advantage over its domestic rivals.

Muller emphasized that building its own stadium would be a game-changer for Mengão: " The only thing Flamengo needs and doesn't have yet is a stadium. If they have one, no one will stop them . It'll be 50, 60,000 people every game. If the Maracanã is already always full... imagine if they had their own stadium. Who's going to stop a team like that? Look at the revenue."

The project has been under discussion for some time, and initial steps have already been taken to ensure that the fans' dream is realized soon, transforming the club into an even more consolidated powerhouse on the national scene.

FLAMENGO IS SUPERIOR TO THE NATIONAL TEAM

The former player was full of praise for Mais Querido : " Take this Flamengo team today. Today. They won't lose to the national team, and if you're not careful, they're better than Jorge Jesus's on paper ." Muller also highlighted coach Filipe Luís's wide range of options, noting that players like Everton Cebolinha are rarely used, despite their goalscoring record for the national team.

According to a survey released by the Transfermarkt platform, Flamengo boasts four of the ten players who have lost the most market value in Brazil. The analysis takes into account each player's individual performance throughout the season and identifies the Rio de Janeiro club as the leader in the rankings.

Among the names mentioned are midfielder Nicolás De la Cruz and striker Pedro, who appear at the top of the list . Both have faced periods of instability and physical problems, determining factors in the drop in projected values.

Signed with high expectations, De la Cruz suffered from injuries and was unable to continue his strong start to his career at the club . His lack of rhythm directly impacted his market value, resulting in a drop of approximately €6 million compared to his previous value.

PEDRO GOES THROUGH OSCILLATIONS

One of the most consistent scorers in Brazilian football in recent years, Pedro lost his place at the beginning of the season due to injuries and was even dropped from the squad following internal problems. Despite regaining prominence recently, his market value has dropped by around €2 million.

VIÑA AND MICHAEL COMPLETE LIST

Left-back Viña also makes the rankings. Having only recovered from injury in the second half of the year, he competes for position with Alex Sandro and Ayrton Lucas, a factor that has contributed to his lack of performance. Michael , who also struggled with physical problems, became one of coach Filipe Luís's last attacking options, which explains his drop in rating.

Flamengo reported that Guillermo Varela, right-back for the Uruguayan national team, was released after Uruguay qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup . The player presented with pubalgia and will be re-evaluated by the Flamengo medical department.

According to the official statement, Dr. Fernando Sassaki, the club's doctor, maintained constant contact with the Uruguayan Football Association's medical team to monitor the athlete's situation.

ARRASCAETA WAS SPARED

In addition to Varela, midfielder Giorgian De Arrascaeta also returns to the squad. Despite not presenting any medical problems, the player was rested for Uruguay's second match on this FIFA World Cup . The club expressed its gratitude for the cooperation between the medical departments of both the Celeste and Rubro-Negro teams.

The break in national championships between September 1st and 10th is due to the FIFA Date , intended for the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. There was an expectation that the elimination in the Copa do Brasil against Atlético-MG would create a longer interval between commitments, but the changes promoted by the CBF reduced the space in Mengão's schedule.

NEXT APPOINTMENT

Flamengo returns to the field next Sunday (14), at 4 pm (Brasília time), against Juventude, at Alfredo Jaconi Stadium, for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship. The club seeks to end a long fast in Caxias do Sul , since the last victory there occurred on October 1, 1997, when they won 1-0 after an own goal by Rodrigo Costa.
