Athletico-PR gave up on hiring Doménec Torrent to lead its team during the 2024 season. The team was interested in the former Flamengo coach, but, after the lack of a positive response from the Spaniard, Furacão announced the signing of Colombian Juan Carlos Osorio, last Wednesday (03), and he has already started activities at the Curitiba club this Friday (05).

Although the former Flamengo coach is one of the first options from Athletico-PR, which had been looking for a coach since November 2023, negotiations with Domènec Torrent were not concluded. This is because the club from Paraná made an official proposal with a contract valid until the end of 2024 and was waiting for a response from the Spanish commander by December 23rd.

Domènec Torrent, however, did not respond to Athletico's proposal -PR on time. This is because, leaving Flamengo with little work time (around four months) left the coach afraid of Brazilian football. Therefore, the Spaniard wanted a long-term project and demanded guarantees, such as a termination fine, which is something the team from Paraná has avoided for a few years.

Athletico saw the Spanish coach as an opportunity to build a base solid and competitive to face the challenges that lie ahead and, according to journalist Raísa Simplício, the interest was mutual, at least at the beginning of December. The negotiations, conducted discreetly, were being sent to the final phase, where contractual details were being discussed.

DOMÉNEC IN FLAMENGO

It is worth remembering that Domenèc was responsible for taking over the team in 2020, after Jorge Jesus resigned to return to work at Benfica. He was announced by Fla on July 30th, with a contract until the end of 2021. However, he ended up only staying for around four months, when he was fired at the beginning of November.

Expectations The public, in general, has always been very positive about the coach, given his impressive CV. He had many years of partnership with fellow Catalan coach Pep Guardiola and had successful experiences alongside the renowned coach. However, the recurrent defeats suffered and the poor coexistence with part of the Flamengo squad undermined the commander's work at Mais Querido.

He left Mengão with a performance of 63.8%, which, to put it mildly, in comparison, it is slightly worse than the performance that Jorge Sampaoli had in charge of the team (64.4 performance).

Forward Petterson had his visa regularized and leaves this Thursday (25) for Portugal. Flamengo loaned the 20-year-old player to Estrela Amadora, a team in Portugal's first division. The loan contract between the Portuguese club and Mengão runs until June 2025.

If Estrela Amadora chooses to buy the player, they will have to pay the amount of €750,000 (R$4.4 million ) for 60% of Petterson's economic rights. The information is from Flazoeiro. With 9 goals in 30 games in the 2023 season, the player won three titles in Mengão's youth categories: the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa do Brasil under-17, both in 2021, and the Brasileirão Under-20 in 2023. After a During his loan period at Athletico Paranaense, Petterson packed his bags for Portugal.

At the Paraná club, he debuted with a goal, but an act of indiscipline caused him to be removed and no longer play. He even had a new loan to Avaí, which didn't happen. Now he will have another chance to prove himself.

About Estrela Amadora, Petterson's new club

The club finished the last season of the Portuguese League in 14th place, with seven wins, 15 defeats and 12 draws. In the League Cup, the team was eliminated in the first round; in the Portuguese Cup, Estrela Amadora fell through in the fourth round.

The result in the Portuguese Championship, however, was considered satisfactory. This is because the team returned to compete in the local elite after 15 years. The objective was maintenance.

In the new team, Petterson can expect to find many Brazilians among his teammates. The club has names like André Luiz and Daniel Cabral (both ex-Flamengo), Bruno Brígido (ex-Criciúma) and Léo Jabá (ex-Corinthians). Currently the club plays in the pre-season of European football.

Flamengo agreed to loan 20-year-old striker Petterson to Estrela Vermelha, from Portugal. The contract is valid until the end of June 2025. The information was released by the "GE" portal.

The agreement between Flamengo and Estrela Vermelha includes a purchase option at the end of the loan period. If the Portuguese club wishes to acquire the striker permanently, it must pay 750 thousand euros (approximately R$4.4 million) to Flamengo for 60% of the player's economic rights.

PASSAGE TO ATHLETICO-PR

Petterson was on loan to Athletico-PR until the end of the season, with economic rights set at three million euros (around R$16 millions). However, the striker was removed for disciplinary reasons and ended up no longer being used by the club from Paraná. During his time at Athletico-PR, Petterson played just 32 minutes and scored one goal.

NEW DESTINATION

Outside the plans of both Flamengo and Athletico-PR, Petterson had to look for a new destination. Flamengo collaborated to prevent the player from training separately until the end of the contract and found an opportunity to negotiate him with Estrela Vermelha, from Portugal.
