Flamengo received R$65.8 million from FIFA for its participation in the Club World Cup , which will be played starting on June 14 in the United States. The announcement was made by Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, the club's president, during an internal meeting last Friday (06). The amount is already in the Rio de Janeiro team's account , and an additional amount of up to R$20 million may still be transferred depending on the team's performance in the tournament.
During the Deliberative Council meeting, Bap highlighted that the amount was transferred directly to Brazil, without the need to open a company abroad. According to him, the world's top football authority accepted the request of the clubs involved and adjusted the payment model to facilitate receipt and reduce tax impacts.
The initial plan was to set up a company in the United States to avoid tax burdens on the prize. With FIFA 's change of strategy, the process was simplified. " There was a lot of criticism in many places, and FIFA ended up relaxing this ," said Bap. The executive also reported that the amount received was considered a prize, and not just compensation for participation, which also contributed to the favorable tax framework.
The maneuver allowed the club to receive the amounts in advance and on national territory, ensuring greater liquidity before the start of the competition . The decision also brought peace of mind behind the scenes at the red-blacks, who saw the process of opening a company abroad as bureaucratic and potentially costly.
Flamengo will play its first match on June 16 against Esperance from Tunisia at 10pm (Brasília time) at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. Four days later, it will face Chelsea at the same stadium. The qualifying phase will end with a match against Los Angeles FC on the 24th. The schedule and opponents have put the club in a high gear in the first phase of the international competition.

Flamengo returns to the field this Sunday (31) to face Grêmio, in a match valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship. The ball rolls at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, with broadcast by Rede Globo , on open TV, and Premiere, on pay-per-view.
In midfield, Jorginho 's condition is a concern. The defensive midfielder is experiencing muscle discomfort and did not participate in training with the group during the week . He continues to perform specific activities at Ninho do Urubu and will be re-evaluated this Saturday, in the final training session led by Filipe Luís before the match.
Since his Club World Cup debut, Jorginho has established himself as a key player in the red-and-black squad. If he isn't cleared by the medical department, Allan and Evertton Araújo are potential options, while De La Cruz is considered an outsider. Pulgar remains out of the plans due to surgery on his right foot.
With the confirmed absences and the doubt over Jorginho, coach Filipe Luís should send the following team to the field at Flamengo : Rossi; Varela, Léo Ortiz (Danilo), Léo Pereira and Ayrton Lucas; Allan (Jorginho), Saúl and Arrascaeta; Plata, Samuel Lino and Pedro.
Rubro-Negro heads into the 22nd round as the sole leader of the Brasileirão, with 46 points, two ahead of second-place Cruzeiro, who still have a game in hand . After the match against Grêmio, the competition will be suspended for 13 days due to the FIFA International Day.
