Now away from the pitch as a player, Filipe Luís adopts a new decisive role at Flamengo: coach of the under-17 team. Since January 2024, the former full-back has been implementing an intense playing philosophy, marked by aggression and constant attack. His leadership has already borne impressive fruit, culminating in qualifying for the final of the youth competition this year.

With a history of success at the club as a player, Filipe brought his baggage to the bench. Under his command, the young Flamengo team overcame great opponents and now, after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Botafogo, they have achieved a remarkable feat by reaching the final of the tournament. Photographing the essence of a new era, its strategy and method already reflect a fierce and phenomenal Flamengo in the youth categories.

Despite an oscillating start to the season, with three consecutive defeats, the team led by Filipe Luís he managed to recover spectacularly. The sequence of impressive victories highlighted the coach's ability to motivate and tactically adjust the team. In total, there were eight victories that took Flamengo straight to the semi-final, proving the effectiveness of their work.

Filipe Luís himself, in an interview with FlaTV, clarified that his philosophy is centered on constant attack and in aggressively recovering the ball. “It is important that there is connection between players, an atmosphere of continuous learning and the application of an offensive approach,” he explained. This shows a clear alignment with the historical identity of Flamengo, a club known for its vibrant and offensive football.

With just five months in office, Filipe already demonstrates enormous potential to, perhaps in the future, take on more responsibilities in Flamengo's main team. His passion for the club and dedication to his work indicate that his dream of managing the top team could soon become a reality. Meanwhile, the Rubro-Negra Nation watches with hope the firm steps of its idol towards a bright future in football.

On Saturday afternoon (28), Flamengo held its last training session before facing Athletico-PR in the Brasileirão. A clash that could decide the future of coach Tite at Mengão, was attended by all the players considered to be starters, despite the expectation of a mixed team for Sunday (29).

In content published on social media of Flamengo, names like Bruno Henrique and Alex Sandro, who were starters in the Libertadores elimination, last Thursday (26), appear alongside young fledglings, such as Matheus Gonçalves and Evertton, who have been widely used in the “reserve team ” by Tite.

Flamengo may have held the last training session under Tite's command.

With his destiny becoming more uncertain at Flamengo, Tite may having led his last training session as coach of Rubro-Negro. There are four games without a win, a bad result, or poorly presented football against Athletico-PR, could mean the end of the line for the coach, just under a year after his arrival.

In the semi-finals of Copa do Brasil, where they face Corinthians, and in the G4 of the Brasileirão, Rubro-Negro's objective is clear, to become CdB champion, and remain in the classification zone for the next Libertadores in the points championship.

Flamengo already knows their opponent in the Carioca U20 final. The team led by Filipe Luís, the fans' favorite to take over the main team in the event of Tite's departure from command of Mais Querido, will face Vasco again in the decisive game of the category's state championship. The confrontation is repeated after Cruzmaltino beat Mengão last year on penalties (5 to 4).

This Saturday morning, in São Januário, Vasco eliminated Fluminense after another draw – as well as in the first game in Xerém, the score ended 1-1. Léo Jacó scored for Cruzmaltino in the 41st minute of the second half, from a corner kick, when Tricolor was close to qualifying for the final. With the best campaign in the Guanabara Cup, Vasco had the advantage of the two draws.

Flamengo advanced after eliminating Boavista. After the 1-1 draw away from home, they won the second game 2-0, under the command of coach Filipe Luís, in a match played last Thursday.

For the final, Vasco You won't have the advantage of a draw, but you can choose whether you prefer to start the match at home or play the second leg in São Januário. Cruzmaltino will have the presence of some players who usually play for the professional team, such as JP, GB, Luiz Gustavo and Lyncon, who were listed by the technical committee of the under-20 team.

Flamengo, in turn, hopes to maintain the good form of the U20 team, which won the World Cup in August, by beating Olympiacos, from Greece, 2-1 at Maracanã. Garotos do Ninho can also have reinforcements from players who are integrated with professionals such as Matheus Gonçalves and Lorran.
