On Wednesday night (20), Flamengo won the Cuiabá 2-1, in a game valid for the 34th round of the Brazilian Championship. The winning goals came from young Guilherme Gomes and Matheus Gonçalves, highlights of the red and black base.
Coach Filipe Luís, in collective after the duel at Arena Pantanal, explained the strategic choices that resulted in Garotos do Ninho entering the second half. He highlighted the experience gained when coaching the club's under-17 and under-20 categories
“I know all the boys who are at the club. I observe the training and the details to make the best decisions. Matheus and Guilherme trained well during the week, and my strategy was to hold Matheus for the second half. They did well together,” commented Filipe.
CAUTION WHEN USING THE BASE
The coach highlighted the importance of using young players with caution, avoiding precipitation that could impact their performance and confidence. Filipe admitted that he had already considered using Guilherme Gomes in previous matches, but waited for the right moment.

Matheus Gonçalves, scorer of one of the winning goals, highlighted his close relationship with coach Filipe Luís as an important differentiator. According to the midfielder, the new coach of Flamengo understands the base's talents better and is clear when defining the team's strategy.
“This relationship is very good. He understands us and explains everything well about what we should do in the game. This helps a lot on the field. Today, we got the three points thanks to this connection and the work that has been done”, said Matheus.
Mais Querido has registered five reinforcements for the round of 16 of the international competition and will face Internacional next week at Maracanã.

Flamengo confirmed, this Friday (8), the list of athletes registered for the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores da América. Among the news are Jorginho, Saúl, Emerson Royal, Samuel Lino and Carrascal , reinforcements signed in the last two windows - including the one that preceded the Club World Cup and the current one.
To make room for new names, Flamengo removed Felipe Lima, Jorge Mora, Rayan Lucas, as well as Gerson and Wesley, who were recently traded. The Rubro-Negro's first challenge in this phase will be against Internacional , next Wednesday (14), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã.
The return leg is scheduled for the 20th at Beira-Rio. If they qualify, the club may make further roster changes before the quarterfinals. It's worth noting that Mais Querido is still searching for another striker to replace Pedro.

Rubro-Negro arrives at the clash after being eliminated in the Copa do Brasil, with the mission of winning to maintain the leadership of the competition. On the other side, they will have an opponent motivated by a campaign above all expectations .
Flamengo has 37 points, the same number as Cruzeiro, but leads on goal difference (24 to 19) and still has a game in hand over the Minas Gerais team. A victory at Maracanã will guarantee the Rio de Janeiro club the top of the table at the end of the first round .
Mirassol, meanwhile, is the big revelation in this Série A. In its debut season, the São Paulo team sits fifth with 28 points— the result of seven wins, seven draws, and only two losses in 16 matches . Interestingly, it's the team with the fewest losses in the championship, along with Flamengo . With a victory, the newcomer could enter the top four of the competition.

However, the team's performance in the first round exceeded expectations: third-best attack (27 goals) and sixth-best defense (16 conceded), in addition to good results against more popular opponents.
Despite this, the strategy against Flamengo should follow the usual visiting team strategy at Maracanã: a defensive posture, deep lines, and a reliance on counterattacks . Flamengo, in turn, should control possession and look for spaces to create the chances that will secure the victory.

This Friday (8), Vitória confirmed the arrival of left-back Ramon Ramos , who is on loan from Internacional until the end of the 2025 season . The signing aims to fill the gap left by the serious ankle fracture of Jamerson, the starter in the position.
At 24 years old, Ramon played 12 games for Colorado this season , but lost his place after the arrival of coach Roger Machado. Discovered by Flamengo , the athlete has spells at clubs such as RB Bragantino, Olympiacos (Greece), Espanyol (Spain) and Cuiabá, but was unable to establish himself definitively in the professional ranks.
Signed by Internacional in early 2025, Ramon left the Rio Grande do Sul club after a limited run of appearances and without contributing directly with goals or assists. His last official match was on June 12 , making the loan to Vitória an opportunity to regain confidence and performance.
Raised at Flamengo , Ramon was a promising youngster but didn't achieve the same level of success as a professional. In 2023, the full-back was sold to Olympiacos for €1.5 million (approximately R$8 million at the time), but he is still seeking stability in his career.
With Jamerson out for a long time due to a serious injury, coach Fábio Carille was relying solely on young Maykon Jesus at left-back. Ramon's arrival could bring experience and quality to the team , which is looking to escape the relegation zone in the Brazilian Championship.
