With a history of achievements for Flamengoas a player, Filipe Luís can begin a new successful phase, now as a coach. If Mengão confirms the Copa do Brasil title against Atlético-MG, Filipe will become the fastest coach to win a title for the club this century, adding just nine matches to the fifth championship, surpassing the mark by Ney Franco, who won the same competition in 2006 after 12 games.
Both Ney and Filipe arrived with the mission of winning the Copa do Brasil, but under different contexts. Ney took over the team shortly after being eliminated by Flamengoin the semi-final of the national competition, when he was coaching Ipatinga . He led Rubro-Negro at a time of financial difficulties and a cast without stars. Filipe, on the other hand, has a strong squad and took over the team in the semi-finals, with more time to prepare the team.
Just as Ney Franco surprised by testing a 3-6-1 with the aim of exploiting the attacking potential of the full-backs Léo Moura and Juan, Filipe brought a tactical innovation, aligning the team in an offensive 4-3-3 in the first game of the final. The strategy bore fruit, enhancing Gabigol's talent, and Flamengowon 3-1, dominating Atlético-MG and demonstrating solidity in both attack and defense.
“Flamengo had never played like that, and it was essential that we did some secret training. We managed to do this at a time when Ninho do Urubu was not used by Flamengo's main team. In Gávea, it would be impossible to do closed training. At the time, it was unacceptable for a club the size of Flamengo to hold training sessions without the presence of the press. And we did that”, stated Ney Franco in an interview with the 'GE' portal in 2022.
Now, Filipe Luís finds himself in a prominent position, with the chance to begin a journey of titles on the edge of the pitch for the club he defended so much as a player.

Right-back Wesley, a Flamengo youth product , is starting to gain a foothold in the Brazilian national team. In Carlo Ancelotti's first matches against Ecuador and Paraguay, the position was occupied by Monaco's Vanderson. However, after his transfer to Roma, Wesley has started to receive more attention and could change the national team's call-up.
The 17th round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers has strong emotions in store for the fans who will be at Maracanã this Thursday (4), at 9:30 pm (Brasília time). In addition to the expectation regarding Wesley, another name in the spotlight is striker Samuel Lino , called up by Ancelotti for the last two matches of the competition.

Despite the transfer window closing in Brazil, the player's future remains uncertain and he could return to Qarabag, in Azerbaijan, on loan.

The Brazilian football transfer window officially closed on September 2nd , preventing new signings from arriving in the country. However, the closure doesn't prevent players from leaving, as other international markets are still open. One name under consideration is center forward Juninho, who could move to Europe.
The striker, who was already considered a top contender to leave Flamengo this summer, remains in negotiations. According to Fabrício Lopes, who covers the club on social media , Juninho may be close to returning to Qarabag in Azerbaijan.
Internally, the club's board of directors considers the possibility of releasing Juninho to be positive. The assessment is that the move could create space in the squad and, at the same time, enhance the player's value in a new cycle in European football.
It is worth noting that, at the beginning of this season, Flamengo had acquired the rights to the striker from Qarabag himself , which makes the possible loan a turnaround in the initial planning for the player.
With the transfer window still open in some countries, the coming weeks are expected to be decisive for the center forward's future. If the deal goes through, Juninho will have the opportunity to resume his European career and once again represent Qarabag.
The Qatari club tried to sign the number 9 with a million-dollar offer, but the club's board did not open negotiations; the player remains focused on regaining prestige.

In recent days, Flamengo received an offer from Qatar's Al Rayyan to sign Pedro. The proposed figure was around $20 million (approximately R$110 million), but the board promptly rejected the offer and did not continue negotiations. The information was initially reported by journalist Venê Casagrande.
The Arab market's interest in the striker isn't new . On other occasions, Middle Eastern teams have signaled offers, forwarded them to the player's staff, but none have come forward. This time, the approach came from the team led by Artur Jorge, former Botafogo coach.
Despite the external pressure, Pedro has remained focused on Flamengo and is working to return to his peak. According to Fabrício Lopes, the striker is committed to regaining his place and, most importantly , to regaining coach Carlo Ancelotti's attention on the Brazilian national team.
At the last World Cup, the number 9 was part of the "Amarelinha" squad and wants to return to the squad. To do so, he knows he needs to maintain his consistency and increase his contribution on the field . Currently, the national team's number 9 will be Chelsea's youngster João Pedro .
This season, the striker has played 28 matches, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists. In the last four games, he has started three times, finding the net six times and providing two decisive passes to teammates. His recent performance reinforces the player's confidence and increases his chances of being scouted again by the national team's coaching staff.
