In Flamengo 's debut in the Brazilian Championship , the team fell behind to Internacional last Saturday (29), but managed to draw and get a point at Maracanã. The red-black goal was scored by defender Léo Pereira .

Bruno Henrique in new role
After the match, coach Filipe Luís explained Bruno Henrique 's positioning, who played further back than usual. According to him, this strategy was possible due to the striker's different characteristics.

The coach explained that he asked Bruno Henrique to play a similar role to the one he played in 2019, under Jorge Jesus , dropping back to get the ball more , while Michael and Juninho played different attacking roles.
“I thought about putting him in that role, which he already did with Jorge Jesus. With two forwards , he coming to get the ball at his feet and Juninho providing depth,” explained Filipe.
He also highlighted Internacional's intelligence in neutralizing the attacker's movement.
“He knows how to do it, he played like that in 2019, attacking the spaces . But Inter have defensive quality. They knew about his offensive power and managed to neutralize him,” he analyzed.
Change in the second half and pressure on the ball
In the second half, Filipe Luís adjusted the team's positioning , making Bruno Henrique play further forward and Michael play more centrally.
“In the second half, he was higher, with Michael inside . Then, he felt more relaxed . For me, he had a great game”, assessed the coach.
Filipe also explained Flamengo 's strategy to pressure Internacional's ball out, alternating the players responsible for this role.
“It wasn’t just him who was putting pressure on Fernando . He and Juninho had to do it. At certain times, Juninho would go, at others, he would go. And we ended up putting pressure on a team that is difficult to put pressure on ,” he said.
The coach also highlighted the players' efforts to make it difficult for Inter, a team used to playing with quality, to build up .
“It’s very difficult to put pressure on Inter. There are few opponents who can take the ball away from them, so the players’ sacrifice is worth it,” concluded Filipe Luís.
Victory over Internacional in the Libertadores puts Mengão above the main teams in European football, such as the Spanish team and the French champions.

Flamengo achieved an impressive feat under Filipe Luís. With the 2-0 victory over Internacional , this Wednesday (20), at Beira-Rio, the club reached 43 triumphs since October 2024 , becoming the team with the most victories in the world in that period.
Rubro-Negro overcame European football powers such as PSG, Real Madrid and Barcelona , who recorded 42, 39 and 37 victories, respectively, which further consolidates the numbers achieved since the coach began his work at Mengão.
In addition to the record, Flamengo also confirmed its place in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores . The team eliminated Internacional with two victories: 1-0 at Maracanã and 2-0 at Beira-Rio. In the next round, they will face Estudiantes (ARG).
