Flamengo ended its participation in the first edition of the new FIFA Club World Cup with an official note of thanks, recognition and perspective for the future. Despite the elimination, the club valued the experience in the United States and considered the tournament as another step in the internationalization of the red-black brand.
The delegation returns to Brazil on Tuesday morning (1st), after leaving the USA on Monday night. The next match for the team led by Filipe Luís will be in the second week of July, against São Paulo , for the Brazilian Championship.
Flamengo represented Brazil and South America in the tournament organized by FIFA, facing clubs from other parts of the world. The club highlighted the pride of competing with the shield on its chest and the importance of the event for the international expansion of the Flamengo name. In the statement released, Flamengo thanked FIFA for organizing and structuring the tournament.
He also highlighted the support of the Rio de Janeiro State Government, which made possible the creation of Casa Flamengo , a space for fans from all over the world to meet.
