Flamengo 's phase of technical and emotional stability has directly reflected in the club's internal decisions. As the leader of the Brazilian Championship and with the team's confidence high, the board is starting to plan the next steps — and one of them involves ensuring the permanence of one of the most relevant names of the winning generation: Giorgian De Arrascaeta.
A GALA MOMENT FOR THE NUMBER 10
At 30 years old, the Uruguayan is a central player in Filipe Luís' team and, even after a 2024 season marked by injuries and inconsistencies, he has regained his place and morale with the number 10 jersey. The internal assessment is that he has once again been decisive — both on the field and in the locker room. With a contract valid until December 2026, Arrascaeta is already in negotiations to extend his contract for another two years. The current proposal foresees a validity until the end of 2028, with a salary adjustment and bonuses for sporting goals.
The renewal is considered a priority after the number 10 returned to being a technical highlight of the team. Filipe Luís 's team sees the midfielder as a key player in the tactical structure and believes that he can still perform at a high level for a longer period of time. Internally, the understanding is that the number 10 shirt has done Arrascaeta good. The change in number, amid Gabigol's departure from the symbolic role, has changed the player's profile, who has started to have a more participative posture on the field and greater leadership behind the scenes.
FLAMENGO WANTS ARRASCAETA'S RENEWAL
The board's move to seal the new deal has gained momentum in light of the increase in inquiries from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Although no official proposal has been put on the table, Flamengo wants to avoid surprises and protect itself in advance. The idea is to complete the renewal before the mid-year window opens.
People close to the player reveal that there is goodwill on both sides and that the desire to stay at the club is mutual. Flamengo has already signaled that it does not intend to make adjustments to bonuses and bonuses difficult, as long as there is financial balance. Arrascaeta arrived at Flamengo in 2019, signed from Cruzeiro for around R$63 million. Since then, he has won important titles such as Libertadores (2019 and 2022), Brasileirão (2019 and 2020), Copa do Brasil (2022) and has become one of the idols of the fans.
Alvinegro still owed Mengão for the signing of Matheuzinho, but managed to deposit a huge amount to close the matter.

Flamengo received, this Friday (1st), another millionaire amount related to the sale of right-back Matheuzinho. Corinthians paid around R$ 14 million to Rubro-Negro , paying off the remaining amount of the negotiation made in February of this year.
At the time, the Rio de Janeiro club sold the player for R$21.48 million, but Corinthians delayed the third installment of the agreement. As a result, Flamengo demanded immediate payment of the entire outstanding amount . The information was initially reported by the portal Meu Timão.
To facilitate the payment, Corinthians signed an agreement with Brax, the company responsible for marketing advertising signs for both clubs. The company acted as guarantor for the deal and transferred the funds to Flamengo .
By August, Corinthians had already paid R$8 million directly to the Rio de Janeiro club. It then transferred R$7.58 million to Brax , which topped up the amount with another R$6 million , fully settling the debt with the club.
While the board celebrates receiving the amount, Flamengo remains focused on the field. The team led by Filipe Luís returns to play this Sunday (3), against Ceará, at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Arena Castelão, for the 18th round of the Brasileirão. The match will be broadcast live on Premiere, on pay-per-view.

Flamengo has already made four signings official this transfer window , but the delay in negotiations has drawn criticism from some fans . During striker Samuel Lino's presentation, football director José Boto spoke out on the matter and apologized to the Flamengo Nation.
“Sometimes things take a little longer than the fans want, and I apologize to the fans, but we ( Flamengo 's board) have fixed ideas, and as long as it's possible to have the players we want , we'll go after it,” explained Boto.
Brazilian football's second transfer window opened on July 10th, and Flamengo began the period cautiously, monitoring the market and evaluating options. As the weeks progressed, the board accelerated negotiations and secured four key signings : Saúl Ñíguez, Emerson Royal, Samuel Lino, and Jorge Carrascal.
Despite the names already confirmed, Flamengo remains attentive to the market. The club is in ongoing negotiations with Fiorentina, Italy, to sign striker Lucas Beltrán . Flamengo has already agreed on a fee with the Italian club, but still needs to convince the Argentine player to return to South America.
While the board works behind the scenes, the squad led by Filipe Luís focuses on the challenges on the field. Flamengo's next match is this Sunday (3), against Ceará , at 6:30 pm (Brasília time), at Castelão, for the 18th round of the Brazilian Championship.
