Flamengo reached revenue of R$1.370 billion in 2023 and beat historic record in Brazilian football. The numbers were confirmed at a meeting of the Supervisory Board this Thursday (21). A large part of the emblematic collection is due to the exponential increase in commercial areas in recent years, an issue that was highlighted by Fernando Goés, the club's financial director.
“Matchday and commercial groups were very strong. These two groups in the last five years have doubled in value. They grew by more than 14% per year. They have different vectors, advertising and online betting that are gaining value. But there was a lot of work that was done on Flamengo's media channel. Matchday revenue refers to money from ticket sales, members and everything the club collects on match days. The amount reached R$260 million in 2023, more than double the R$111 million raised in 2018. The increase compared to the previous year was 26.8%, rising from R$205 million.
Commercial revenue (marketing, advertising and licensing) also doubled in the last five years and reached R$323 million. Finally, the club's work with the base resulted in record sales of athletes: 303 million reais. It is worth highlighting the sales of Matheus França and João Gomes, for R$104 and R$103 million, respectively, but also the high volume of athletes leaving the club's base for Europe.
The increase, on the other hand, does not change the board's philosophy regarding spending on professional football. Fernando Goés explains that the idea is to maintain the expenditure ratio over total revenue at the same level as in recent years.
“If I take the last few years, without considering amortizations, we spent 63% of revenue recurring (with football). There is an entire area of support, legal and marketing that are also linked to football. If you add everything up, excluding social and Olympic sports, it comes to 83%”
With a million-dollar offer, the betting house tries to occupy Pixbet's space on the red-black shirt and the club needs to notify its current master sponsorship partner.

Flamengo has received a high-value offer from Superbet to fill the master sponsorship slot currently held by Pixbet. The information was released by Poder360. Under the current contract, Pixbet holds the right to match any offer before the club signs a new agreement , thus ensuring the possibility of maintaining the exclusive jersey design.
This clause is included in the contract signed between the parties, which prevents a direct sponsor change without the current partner having the opportunity to match the amounts. It's now up to Pixbet to decide whether to continue with the main sponsorship or make way for Superbet.
Pixbet currently holds the most valuable master sponsorship contract in Brazilian soccer, with staggered annual payments: R$105 million in the first year, R$115 million in the second, and R$125 million in the third . The club also receives bonuses related to FlaBet, which is featured on another part of the kit, reinforcing the importance of partnerships with the betting industry for annual revenue.
The board carefully evaluates all aspects of the proposal, weighing the financial and strategic impact of the change. Ensuring economic stability is seen as essential to maintaining competitiveness in national and international tournaments.
