The internal climate in Flamengo has been quite troubled recently. Since the incident in which Pedro was punched in the face by fitness coach Pablo Fernández after a victory against Atlético-MG, the atmosphere in the locker room has not been the same. Despite Pablo's departure following the incident, the relationship between coach Jorge Sampaoli, the players and other key figures at the club has not improved.

The cold relationship between Sampaoli and the casting has been evident, with reports that the coach took 16 days to talk to Pedro after the incident. In addition, there was an episode of aggression between players Gerson and Varela in training, resulting in a broken nose for Varela. Although both played the next day and Flamengo won the match, the atmosphere seems to be tense.

The results have not helped to calm the mood in the club. After the incident with Pedro, Flamengo won only three of the seven games played, with victories by a minimum margin and performances considered below expectations. The team was eliminated from Libertadores by Olimpia in the round of 16, which was considered a failure, and has faced difficulties in the Brazilian Championship.

The team has fluctuated in terms of performance, playing poorly against theoretically weaker teams, such as Cuiabá, and not demonstrating the expected consistency to dispute the titles. In addition, important players like Pedro and Everton Cebolinha have lost space in the team.

Despite having a squad with quality and being considered one of the favorites to win titles, Flamengo is facing a series of internal challenges and disappointing results this season. The team will have to overcome these adversities if they want to end the year with a trophy in hand, and the biggest chance will be in the final of the Copa do Brasil.

Flamengo's latest transfer window had an impact on the European market . In an interview with UOL, football director José Boto stated that the arrivals of Saúl, Samuel Lino, Emerson Royal, and Carrascal increased the club's visibility among players playing outside of Brazil .

José Boto on players offering themselves to Flamengo: "There were important and well-known players who showed interest in coming"

"In terms of the market, this window has a bit of an impact in Europe, opening Flamengo 's doors even further to European players. They're seeing this type of player coming here and are more interested in coming," Boto stated.

WANTED BY STARS

The Portuguese director also revealed that prominent European football players had offered to play for Flamengo , but the club chose not to move forward with negotiations . According to him, there was no need for reinforcements in those positions.

"I won't name names, but after these signings, some important and well-known players showed interest in coming . These were positions we didn't need, and I've also said that sometimes, too much water kills the plant. We didn't want to turn it into something that could harm the team," he added.

HIRING UNDER BOTO'S MANAGEMENT

José Boto took over the club's management after Luiz Eduardo Baptista (BAP) was elected president. Since then, seven new signings have been confirmed, with a total investment of €48 million (approximately R$301 million) :

  • Danilo – free
  • Jorginho – free
  • Saul – free
