Flamengo returns to Maracanã for the Libertadores this Wednesday (10), against Central Córdoba (Argentina), for the second round of the group stage . After starting the campaign with a victory away from home , Rubro-Negro seeks the first three points against Nação .
Despite the last memory at home in the competition being bitter — a defeat to Peñarol in the 2024 quarterfinals, which resulted in the club's elimination — Flamengo's record at Maracanã is overwhelming. Before the stumble, they had 17 consecutive victories as home team in the Libertadores, with 49 goals scored and only seven conceded .
Between 2019 and 2024, Flamengo played 31 games at Maracanã in the South American competition, with 26 wins, 3 draws and only 2 losses — both against Peñarol. The success rate in this period is an impressive 87% .
For five consecutive seasons, Flamengo remained undefeated at the stadium in the Libertadores. The first and last defeats in the period came precisely against Uruguayan side Peñarol, in 2019 and 2024. The Mais Querido now wants to return to defending its domains in the competition.
Check out Flamengo's performance at Maracanã between these two defeats:
In addition to the duel against Central Córdoba, Flamengo will also host LDU (EQU) and Deportivo Táchira (VEN) in the group stage of the Libertadores. In the first match of the tournament, they beat the Venezuelan team , away from home, by 1-0, with a goal scored by striker Juninho .
Considering all competitions, Flamengo has not lost at Maracanã since October 2024, when it was defeated by Fluminense in the Brasileirão, which was Filipe Luís' only defeat in charge of the professional team . In 2025, there have been nine matches, with six victories for Mais Querido and three draws at Mário Filho.
Erick Pulgar remains in the medical department and will be the only absence for Mais Querido against Internacional, in a decisive game in the round of 16
