Flamengo and Rio de Janeiro City Hall will meet next Monday to determine the next steps regarding the stadium site in Gasometer. The meeting will feature President Rodolfo Landim and Mayor Eduardo Paes.

The idea of the meeting is to debate what can be done without a response from Caixa. This directly involves the possibility of expropriating the area, something raised by Paes recently. Both parties are interested in determining a deadline for resolving the situation. It is a focus of both that the matter is resolved before the end of the year, as there will be elections in Fla and Rio.

Flamengo has a meeting with Caixa Econômica scheduled for next week. There has still been no response from the bank regarding the amount that will be requested for the land. If there is no response, the City Hall will give a deadline to carry out the expropriation. Flamengo's expectation is that the definition will take place soon.

Eduardo Paes has positioned himself as an ally of Flamengo. The mayor has already practically sealed the constructive potential agreement with the club, all that remains is to begin the bureaucratic details to begin the entire rite of the bill.

The politician, who will run for re-election at City Hall, has also done pressure on Caixa Econômica Federal. This is because the Gasometer land, where Flamengo wants to build its stadium, belonged to the state bank.

Caixa, however, has played hard against Rubro-Negro, who signaled a proposal worth around R $250 million. Initially, the value did not please the bank, which also did not set a value considered satisfactory to move forward with the conversations.

Against the current Superliga champion, Bernardinho's team played 3 sets to 0 at Minas, with scores of 25-15, 25-18 and 25-17. The duel took place at Ginásio Wilson Mânica, in Ijuí, Rio Grande do Sul.

Victory to respect

Despite being a competition to open the season, Flamengo's victory gives a boost to the season. After all, Minas is the team to beat in Brazilian women's volleyball. Thus, in the last five Superligas, the Belo Horizonte team won four titles and one runner-up. In the squad, there are athletes who have played for the Brazilian team, such as Thaísa, Olympic champion and bronze medalist in this year's edition, in Paris.

Superliga

The dates of the Women's Super League have not yet been announced. However, there is an expectation that the competition will start in October. In total, 12 teams will play the tournament, in a round-robin system, with the eight best qualifying for the quarter-finals.

In the last edition, after all, Flamengo was eliminated by Praia Clube in the semi-final . Therefore, the goal for 2024/25 is to reach the decision and repeat the title won in 2000/01, when Rubro-Negro beat Vasco, in a historic decision at the Ginásio do Maracanãzinho.

The Super World Cup will be held between June 15 and July 13, 2025 The competition already has 30 qualified teams, with three Brazilians among them: Palmeiras, Flamengo and Fluminense. Brazil may have one more representative. This is because Atlético-MG and Botafogo are fighting for the last South American place in the competition — the Libertadores title gives them the place. Peñarol [if they win the Libertadores] and Olímpia [if River wins the Libertadores] are the other teams in the running.

What will the Super Mundial be like?

< The competition organized by FIFA will be played for the first time with 32 teams next year. The United States will host the first edition of the tournament in this format. The 32 teams will be divided into eight groups with four teams each, with them facing each other in a single round. The top two in each group will advance to the round of 16. The knockout stage will be played in a single game.

The places are divided into: 12 for Europe, six for South America, four for Asia, Africa and North, Central America and the Caribbean, one for Oceania and one for the host country.

In addition to the remaining MLS spot, which has not yet defined its representative, the other available entry belongs to South America. It is destined for the champion of the edition of 2024 of the Libertadores. If River Plate wins the title, it will be transferred to the Conmebol ranking in FIFA and would already have an owner: Olímpia-PAR.

New information has emerged about the legal impasse involving Caixa Econômica Federal and the Gasologista land, located in the Port Zone of Rio de Janeiro, where Flamengo's future stadium is planned. The state bank demands compensation of R$1.08 billion to free up the area for the club.
DEMANDS FROM CAIXA ECONÔMICA FEDERAL

According to the website Exame, Caixa is charging R$240 million for land ownership and R$840 million for air rights for the work, which would allow for an expansion of the construction potential of the stadium project. Only with the payment of this amount would the bank be willing to provide the site for construction.

In 2024, the City of Rio de Janeiro, led by Mayor Eduardo Paes, expropriated the Gasometer land. Mais Querido then acquired the area at an auction for R$146 million. However, Caixa Econômica challenged the transaction in court, triggering a long legal battle that has not yet been resolved.

ONGOING NEGOTIATIONS

To try to resolve the conflict, Flamengo, City Hall and Caixa are looking for an agreement that could put an end to the legal disputes. A deadline of mid-November this year was set for the parties to reach a consensus and make progress on the stadium project possible.
