Colombian midfielder Jorge Carrascal is expected in Rio de Janeiro in the coming days to undergo medical examinations and sign a contract with Flamengo. With the player's arrival, the question arises: can the Rubro-Negro still sign more foreigners?
Since 2023, the CBF has increased the limit of foreign players listed per match in the Brazilian Championship from seven to nine. With Carrascal, the club now has eight foreign players on its roster: Rossi (Argentina), Pulgar (Chile), Plata (Ecuador), and Uruguayans Viña, Varela, De la Cruz, and Arrascaeta.
A recurring question concerns midfielder Jorginho, born in Brazil but naturalized Italian and a former Italian international. However, according to the 'GE' portal, the midfielder has dual citizenship and is considered Brazilian by the CBF . Therefore, he is not included in the foreign squad. Therefore, Flamengo still has a spot open for a foreigner on the roster, which can be used on a per-match basis.
The club continues to look at international players and is dreaming of signing Argentine striker Taty Castellanos from Lazio (ITA). However, the Italian club has no interest in negotiating him at this time, which hinders any progress.
It's worth remembering that the regulations don't prevent the club from having more than nine foreign players on the roster—the restriction only applies to the list of players selected for each game. For example, with Pulgar injured for two to three months , Flamengo would have room to include a tenth foreign player temporarily, without exceeding the limit of nine per game. Even so, the board doesn't intend to exceed this number.
In addition to Carrascal, Flamengo is still searching for a center forward and a left winger . If Wesley's sale is confirmed this transfer window, the club will likely also look for a new right-back to replace the youngster's departure.

Flamengo will have an important novelty on the field this Sunday (31), when it faces Grêmio in the 22nd round of the Brasileirão . The club will now display the name of Betano, the new master sponsor of the Manto Sagrado, in the center of its uniform .
Until then, the sports betting company had already signed a contract with Rubro-Negro, but the shirt was only being used with the phrase “A Nação Confia” , in reference to the agreement that had not yet been officially activated.
The partnership between Flamengo and Betano runs until 2028 and provides for R$268.5 million per season. With bonuses included for winning titles and achieving goals, the contract could reach R$1 billion over the life of the contract .
In addition to the uniform display, the company is preparing a grand celebration at Maracanã Stadium to mark the official start of the partnership. 3D mosaics are planned in the stands and a concert by singer Alexandre Pires , promising a special atmosphere for the brand's debut at Manto Sagrado.

This Saturday, Roma defeated Pisa 1-0 in a Serie A match. The standout performer was Argentine Matías Soulé, who scored the winning goal. Flamengo returns to the field this Sunday (31) to face Grêmio, in a match valid for the 22nd round of the Brazilian Championship. The ball rolls at 4 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã, in a duel broadcast by Rede Globo on open TV and Premiere, on pay-per-view .
Rede Globo will broadcast the game throughout Brazil, with the exception of São Paulo. Gustavo Villani will be the commentator, with commentary by Junior and Roger Flores . The match will also be available on Premiere, ensuring full coverage for subscribers.
Flamengo will have most of its squad available for the match. The confirmed absences are full-back Alex Sandro, recovering from a left calf injury, and defensive midfielder Erick Pulgar , who is still recovering from surgery on his right foot. Midfielder Jorginho is also doubtful, having missed recent training sessions with the rest of the group.
