Flamengo's board of directors, under the coordination of José Boto, has already reached an agreement with Barco regarding his salary. Negotiations with the Argentine player have progressed in recent days, and the midfielder has shown himself willing to play for the Rio de Janeiro club. Now, the only thing left to do is to release him from Spartak Moscow, which depends on an official offer.
Flamengo is at a crucial point. The club does not intend to make any kind of offer before trimming the squad. The idea is to make room in the attacking sector, both technically and financially. According to information from journalist Julio Miguel Neto, the official progress of negotiations for Barco is conditional on the departure of four players who currently have little space with Filipe Luís: Michael, Everton Cebolinha, Matheus Gonçalves and Lorran.
The board believes that, with the release of this group, there will be space on the payroll and in the coach's plans to invest in Barco. Neither of them has been used frequently, which reinforces the expectation of a conclusion in the coming weeks. Michael is in advanced negotiations with Al-Duhail, from Qatar. The player was even mentioned as an alternative to the injured Everton Cebolinha, but internally Flamengo understands that his cycle is close to the end.
The move to the Middle East should be finalized in the next few days, which would represent one of the four players that need to leave for the Barco deal to take shape. Another name close to leaving the club is Matheus Gonçalves. The 18-year-old attacking midfielder is a target for Grêmio, which is negotiating his arrival on loan until the end of the season.
