Flamengo presented the most recent studies on the construction of the Gasômetro stadium , with a projected capacity of 72,000, to the Deliberative Council. The consulting firm FGV concluded that the most financially viable option is to establish a savings account with the club's own resources , rather than financing or investment partnerships.
According to the survey, the estimated cost of the project is R$2.2 billion. To reach this figure, the club intends to accumulate R$1.52 billion over approximately 10 and a half years, starting in January 2026 , and supplement the remainder with other sources of revenue. This information comes from journalist Rodrigo Mattos.
According to Mattos, Flamengo has been strengthening its cash flow in recent months and will officially begin the savings program in January 2026, with monthly contributions equivalent to 5% of projected revenue , with the savings gradually increasing. With the earnings, the savings would reach R$1.52 billion by June 2036, the projected completion date.
To complete the amount, Flamengo would use:
Added to the club's savings, these sources would allow the estimated cost to be exceeded , reaching R$2.233 billion.
According to FGV, resorting to loans would make the project unfeasible. This is because the cost of capital, with the Selic rate projected at 15%, would make the arena unprofitable. Therefore, the board, led by Luiz Eduardo Baptista (BAP), prefers to accumulate resources gradually and avoid debt.

The coaching staff's priority is to minimize the effects of physical exhaustion after the marathon of matches. The training locations and logistics were chosen to ensure adequate recovery time , as well as tactical adjustments before the match against Corinthians .
The match in São Paulo is crucial in the battle for the Brasileirão lead. Flamengo leads the table with 51 points, closely followed by Cruzeiro with 50. A slip-up could cost them the top spot. Cruzeiro, however, has a game in hand compared to the Minas Gerais team.

“It’s a great lesson (to beat Estudiantes). In fact, my biggest lesson as a coach so far was against Central Córdoba (ARG). The Libertadores is very complicated, it’s very difficult ,” said Filipe Luís in a press conference last Thursday (25).
In the group stage, Flamengo stumbled against debutants Central Córdoba. At the Maracanã, they were surprised by a home defeat . In Argentina, they seemed on track for a victory, but ended up conceding a draw late on, a result that served as a wake-up call for the squad.
Regarding the setback in the second leg of the quarterfinals, Filipe Luís downplayed the result and emphasized the qualification . For the coach, the challenge is to find ways to give his players confidence and creative freedom, especially in the final third of the pitch.
"Of course, as a coach, I try to create the best attacking conditions so that the players feel comfortable on the ball , have more time to play it, and find solutions on the field. Then, in the final third, creativity, confidence, and momentum come into play. Arrascaeta wasn't having his best day, but Carrascal came into good form and made a difference. It really depends on the player's feel on the field," he explained.
After qualifying, Flamengo prepares to face Racing (ARG) in the Libertadores semi-final . Before that, however, the next commitment will be against Corinthians this Sunday (28) at 8:30 pm (Brasília time), for the Brasileirão.

Flamengo secured a spot in the Copa Libertadores semifinals after eliminating Estudiantes (ARG) on penalties after trailing 1-0 in regulation time. The hero of the night was goalkeeper Agustín Rossi, who the club praised on social media immediately after qualifying.
"Rossi is the wall! Rossi is the real wall. My goalkeeper's ex's law, okay? This is Flamengo for cr#$!*@", posted the official Flamengo profile on X (former Twitter), drawing laughter and a lot of interaction from the fans .
HOW WAS THE GAME?
In front of a packed stadium in La Plata, Estudiantes opened the scoring in the first half with Gastón Benedetti in the 47th minute. Flamengo pressed in the second half but couldn't equalize, sending the decision to penalties. In the shootout, Rossi shone, saving shots from Benedetti and Santiago Ascacíbar , securing the Flamengo's place among the top four in the Americas.
Interestingly, Rossi has a brief history with Estudiantes. The goalkeeper played for the club early in his career , playing just three matches before moving on to Boca Juniors (ARG), where he established himself and gained a reputation as a penalty taker, which he again appeared against the Pinchas, this time wearing a Flamengo jersey.
Having qualified, Flamengo will once again face an Argentine rival. Their semifinal opponent will be Racing (ARG), who eliminated Vélez Sarsfield (ARG) . Thus, Mengão will once again play on Argentine soil in their quest for the final.
