Flamengo, one of the most traditional and successful clubs in Brazilian football, continues to prosper not only in its achievements on the field, but also behind the scenes financially. Ending the year 2023 with record revenue, totaling an impressive R$251.9 million in the previous season alone, the Rio club has already surpassed the R$1 billion mark during the current administration. This amount includes sales, loans, solidarity mechanisms and bonuses stipulated in contracts for its young talents since 2019.

In an interview with FlaTV, Flamengo's official YouTube channel, the youth vice-president and women's football, Vitor Zanelli, shared his perspectives while highlighting the club's record achievements in the youth categories. In 2022 and 2023, Flamengo accumulated 44 titles each year, a remarkable feat that reflects the commitment and excellence in training young talents. The under-20 team, for example, boasts the title of Brazilian champion and is preparing to compete in the Libertadores category in 2024.

THE BASE COMES STRONG

Currently, one of the jewels of Flamengo's youth team is attacking midfielder Lorran, just 17 years old, whose performance has aroused interest from European clubs. His rise is marked by the feat of becoming the youngest player in the club's history to score a goal for the first team. With a contract in force until the end of 2025, Lorran has a release clause set at 50 million euros (equivalent to R$268.3 million), reflecting the value and potential that the club attributes to his talent.

In his words, Zanelli expressed optimism regarding the club's financial future, highlighting the relevance of the red and black base on the world stage and the success of sales of players trained in the youth categories. With management focused on training and valuing talent, Flamengo demonstrates its ability to generate substantial revenue and remain a powerhouse both on the field and in business.

MATCH SUMMARY

Flamengo's standout player, Ryan Roberto, opened the scoring for Rubro-Negro after just 8 minutes of the first half. At 20', the Bahian team tied the game, with Lyan scoring the goal.

In the first half's injury time, Ryan Roberto found a beautiful pass to Lucas Falcone between the defender and the Bahia full-back. The number 5 crossed to Luiz Guilherme, who controlled it and put Mais Querido in front on the scoreboard again.

In the second half, Bahia adopted a more aggressive stance to try to reverse the score. However, the Bahian team was unable to find the Mais Querido's goal , causing Rubro-Negro to emerge victorious.

Just like in the under-17s, Flamengo is defeated in the final of the Copa Rio Under-16

The team, which needed to turn around a 3-1 deficit in the first match, failed to take advantage of opportunities and ended up conceding two goals to Vasco in the second half.

As is usually the case in most title-winning games, Flamengo and Vasco played a tight duel at the beginning, with the game very focused on the midfield.

Flamengo had to make up for a 3-1 deficit from the first leg of the U-16 Rio Cup final against Vasco, and ended up losing again, this time 2-0, on Sunday morning (29), at the José Bastos Padilha Stadium, in Gávea. The team worked hard on the field, almost managed to open the scoring on two occasions, but ended up conceding two goals in the second half.

FIRST HALF

As is the case in most title-winning games, Flamengo and Vasco played a tight duel at the beginning, with the game largely concentrated in the midfield. The exceptions were corners and crosses into the box. The first dangerous shot ended up being from the opponent, at 18 minutes.

The need to win caused anxiety in the red-and-black team, which sometimes rushed into the outcome of plays. Despite having more of the ball and staying more in the attacking field, Fla had difficulty breaking through Vasco's blockade. There were many blocked shots and a free kick hit into the wall that ended with the goalkeeper saving the rebound, at 39 minutes.

SECOND HALF

Flamengo started the second half well. They had a chance after just one minute, with two attempts by number 10 Guilherme Ivo, but the goalkeeper managed to save it. The best chance came in the second minute, when Pedro Henrique crossed and Guilherme Ivo finished again. This time the defense cleared it on the line.

Better for Vasco, who ended up scoring twice, in the 14th minute, from a free kick, and in the 22nd minute. The game continued without any major scoring chances. Flamengo fought hard on the field in an attempt to react, while the opponent tried to pass the time and close in on a counterattack. There were no more important moves until the final whistle.
