Flamengo will have a great classic against Fluminense in the Copa Rio U-17 this Saturday (27). In fourth place, the team led by the coach Filipe Luís faces Flu in Laranjeiras in the eighth round of the competition. Mengão has 12 points, the same score as its rival, which is third in the table. However, Flamengo loses in the tiebreaker criteria. The game time has not yet been confirmed.

Flamengo started the Copa Rio U-17 with its main team, but from the second round onwards it played with its alternative team, as the main team in the category traveled to United States to compete in the Adidas Generation Cup. In the USA, Fla fought, but ended up falling in the semi-final to Philadelphia Union: a 2-0 defeat.

Due to the good recent results, expectations are high in Flamengo for the team's growth in the final stretch of the competition. If in the Under-17s, Flamengo and Fluminense will make the first classic of the year, in the professionals, they have already faced each other three times in 2024: two red-black victories and a draw.

The coach, in an interview this Monday, has already made it clear how honored he is to participate in the entire process of training stars at Mengão and this victory would be a big step in his trajectory and in the history of the Crias. At Flamengo, we teach our young players that they are ambassadors for the club at all times, on and off the field. The Flamengo beat Atlético-MG on Thursday night (16), by a score of 3-2, in the under-20 Brasileirão. Mais Querido achieved their third consecutive victory, this time, away from home. With the result, Rubro-Negro moved up two positions in the league table.

Os Garotos do Ninho had not entered the field for the under-20 Brasileirão since May 1st, when they beat Cruzeiro 1-1. 0, in Gávea, in a match valid for the 5th round. Highlighting that Mais Querido did not enter the field in the 6th round, as the match against Grêmio was postponed due to rain in Rio Grande do Sul.

MATCH SUMMARY< Mais Querido played the 7th round away from home, at the Castor Cifuentes Stadium, against Atlético-MG. The confrontation was electrifying, but Rubro-Negro came out on top, taking a 2-0 lead in the first half. However, Mário Jorge's team saw their opponent grow and reach a draw. However, in the 44th minute of the second half, Iago turned the score around with a great free kick.

FLAMENGO'S SITUATION IN THE BRASILEIRÃO U-20

With the victory, Mais Querido reached the 12 points in six matches played, one less than their opponents in the under-20 Brasileirão. Even so, Rubro-Negro is already consolidated in the G-8 and occupies sixth place in the classification table.

FOCUS ON THE NEXT MATCH

Now, looking for the G-4, Rubro-Negro returns to the field next Wednesday (22), in a game against América-MG, at the Gávea stadium, in a match valid for the eighth round of the Brasileirão under-20. The game will start at 3pm.

Flamengo Feminino U20 takes the field this Thursday (16), at 3pm, at Estádio da Gávea, in a game valid for the seventh round of the Brazilian Women's Championship. Coach Felipe Freitas' team could return to the top of the competition if they win today's match.

This Thursday, May 16, Flamengo has another commitment for the Brazilian Under-20 Championship. At 9:30 pm (Brasília time), the Boys from the Ninho visit Atlético-MG, at Castor Cifuentes, for the 7th round of the national competition; see below all the information and where to watch Atlético-MG x Flamengo.

Current champion of the Brazilian Championship and the Libertadores da América category, Flamengo U20 is looking for another victory in this edition of the Brasileirão Under-20. And fans will be able to follow Mengão's star players on closed television.


This is because Atlético-MG x Flamengo is on the programming schedule of SporTV, Rede Globo's subscription channel. The broadcast was confirmed by the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), on the tournament's official website.


Organizer of the tournament, the Brazilian Football Confederation has already released the full arbitration schedule for Atlético-MG x Flamengo. With a full team from Minas Gerais, referee Daniel da Cunha Oliveira Filho will be in charge of the match. See the complete refereeing team:
