Speculated as a possible reinforcement of Flamengo to fill the gap left by Pedro, striker Anthony Martial is free on the market, but has not played since December 9, 2023. On that occasion, Manchester United, his former club, entered the field to face Bournemouth and lost 3-0 in the Premier League. Martial was a starter and played for 56 minutes.

At the beginning of the year, the French striker suffered a groin injury that required surgery. Therefore, he was away for around 42 days, only returning in March. Even though there were three months left on his contract, Manchester United chose to let go of the player. Since then, Martial has been evaluating his next club and Flamengo is paying attention to his movements.

Just like Flamengo, Anthony Martial suffered from injuries in 2023/24. The star had several physical problems that kept him away from the field for a total of 60 days. Due to muscle pain, the player was not available for United in 12 matches last season.

Status of the deal between Flamengo and Anthony Martial

If the If Flamengo is really interested in the Frenchman, they will have to race against time and agree on the signing by Monday (9). Registration for free players is closing. According to Italian journalist Luca Bendoni, who works at the Gianluca Dimarzio portal, the deal could come to fruition soon.

Offered to Flamengo by his staff, Martial also had a drop in his personal numbers. In the 2022/23 season, the player scored six goals and provided two assists in the Premier League. In 2023/24, it was just one goal and no pass that resulted in the ball in the opponents' net.

On Monday afternoon (13), Flamengo started the Brazilian Under-17 Women's Championship on the right foot. That's because the Girls of the Ninho faced Atlético Mg in Belo Horizonte and achieved an important victory in the debut of the straight points tournament.

Rubro Negro opened the scoring just three minutes into the first half. Cerqueira made a long and precise pass to the jewel of the base, Kaylane, who had coolness when finishing and scoring a great goal against Atlético MG. After that, Ju Bittencourt closed everything in Mais Querido's goal and secured the advantage for the second half.

In the second half, the Gávea girls managed to manage the score well in Belo Horizonte. Coach Felipe Torres made four changes, which helped keep the Minas Gerais team at home. In attack, Rubro Negro continued to threaten to increase the score, but the opposing goalkeeper performed a miracle. Confirmation of the 1-0 victory in the debut came with the final whistle of the match.

Rubro Negro will return to the field next Wednesday (16). The Brazilian Women's Under-17 Championship is played at a single venue, in the city of Belo Horizonte. Therefore, Meninas da Gávea will face Athletico - PR at 2pm, at Arena Morro das Pedras. The CBF does not provide broadcasts of the Brasileirão games in this edition.

RUBRO NERO GROUP IN THE 1ST PHASE

The CBF made an important change for the 2023 Brazilian Under-17 Championship. Previously, the entity separated 12 clubs into three groups, and the best two in each qualified for the second phase. Starting this year, there will be four groups with 16 teams and only four teams will advance.

Flamengo is in group B, alongside Santos, runner-up in the last edition, Atlético MG and Athletico PR. The championship is played in a single game. Therefore, it is essential for Rubro Negro to finish in first place. If they advance to the semi-final, Mais Querido will face the best placed team in Group C.
